Job Purpose
The Coaching and Officials Development Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening coaching capacity across Saskatchewan. This position supports the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS) through the planning, coordination and delivery of coach education, recognition and development initiatives. The role also leads the implementation of the Indigenous Coaches and Officials Program (ICOP), working collaboratively with partners, communities and sport organizations to expand access and support inclusive sport development throughout the province.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and Scheduling
- Coordinate National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) multi-sport delivery, including partnerships with post-secondary institutions.
- Plan and implement multi-sport Coach Developer training, including Core Training workshops.
- Lead planning and coordination of ICOP initiatives, ensuring alignment with program guidelines, grant processes, reporting systems and budgets.
- Develop processes to monitor and evaluate initiatives against goals and outcomes.
- Collaborate with Sport, Culture and Recreation Districts to support NCCP and other coach education initiatives.
Consulting and Coordinating
- Work with stakeholders to lead and implement ICOP outcomes.
- Collaborate with Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) and partners to promote physical literacy, fundamental movement skills and multi-sport training.
- Facilitate training opportunities with local coaches, Sport for Life Society and the Coaches Association of Canada.
- Build relationships with First Nation and Métis organizations to increase awareness and access to coaching and officials’ programs.
- Support clients in resolving program or service issues and maintain awareness of available education programs.
Provincial Sport Organization Support
- Assist CAS in fulfilling its mandate for coaching education, recognition and support.
- Work with PSOs to develop ongoing support for coaches and officials.
- Support the CAS Executive Director in promoting and administering NCCP in Saskatchewan.
- Provide oversight for the Canada Games Aboriginal Apprentice Program and the Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program.
- Track and report participation in ICOP initiatives.
Reviewing and Other Duties
- Review Saskatchewan Games documents and collaborate with PSOs/Districts on coaching opportunities and challenges.
- Review program plans to ensure annual targets are met.
- Provide recommendations on ICOP database functions and support data entry.
- Monitor best practices in Safe Sport and Dispute Resolution.
- Participate in national NCCP conference calls to stay current on program updates.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Kinesiology, Sport & Recreation Administration, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in sport or recreation management, or in a related non-profit environment.
- Knowledge and experience in program planning and delivery, partnership development, policy development and data collection/evaluation.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCP Certified Coach.
- NCCP Certified Coach Developer.
- Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) or Registered Coach designation.
- Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders and Respect in the Workplace certifications.
Working Conditions

- Travel, requires a reliable mode of transportation
- Able to lift between 10-40lbs
