Consultant, Records Management

You’ll be joining our banking client’s Enterprise Security, Architecture, Analytics and Fraud team. The client's Architecture, Data & Analytics is a business strategy driven function that coordinates data and records management, analytics, governance and architecture activities across the enterprise.

Client : Top 5 Bank

Terms : 6 Month rolling contract, subject to an extension

Location : Hybrid 2 days / week Downtown Toronto

Project : Will be working on multiple workstreams to determine target operation model and BAU

Job Description :

The Enterprise Data & Records Management Office (EDRMO) is an oversight function that delivers best practice and tools to help best manage data and records.

This will help the enterprise achieve its goals of :

  • Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data & Record Services, this role is accountable for supporting the development and implementation of the Enterprise Data Governance Program.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Identify, develop, implement and maintain operational process enhancements to the Data & Records Management Program to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the governance and control framework; equipping decision makers with accurate and timely data and records risk assessments
  • Provide guidance and consultative advice to Senior Records Officers and delivery teams in understanding and interpreting requirements related to Data Management Lifecycle, including identification, retention, preservation and destruction of Records.
  • Support the implementation of compliance monitoring activities, providing recommendations, and reporting suitable for various levels of management.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and review of the Records Management Policy, related Standards and procedures to ensure currency, alignment with the banks strategy, legal, regulatory and business requirements.
  • Gather, validate and document business requirements for assigned projects to ensure maximization of operational efficiency, data currency, integrity and consistency with organization’s strategic direction.
  • Maintain currency and be recognized as the subject matter expert, in order to sufficiently provide value-added consulting to EDRMO’s partners and Senior Leaders.
  • Create Presentations to share information with senior management and the EDRMO regarding ongoing records and data management activities, performance metrics, issues and other program activities to enable awareness and tracking of program compliance and remediation efforts.
  • Provide consultative support on artifacts creation and submission; including but not limited to Records inventories, data governance roles, Data Custody Agreements (DCA), Data Sharing Risk Assessments (DSRA), Data Dictionaries, Deviations & Deficiencies tracking, escalations, etc.
  • Support the development and implementation of metadata quality standards, data management standards and its adoption requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to data policies and standards across the Enterprise to ensure availability of high-quality data, consultative and subject matter expertise, ensuring all users of data understand policies, procedures and standards.
  • Contributes to Data Management Project Deliverables by participating in project meetings, interacting and collaborating with team members and business partners.

Cross-functional relationships

Key relationships with Senior Records Officers, Data Stewards and other internal employees, teams and departments. Providing consultative advice and guidance to ensure organizational consistency to the interpretation and implementation of Data Management & Records Management Polices and their Standards.

  • Liaison between Businesses, Functional Groups and Technology to ensure that data and records related business requirements for protecting sensitive information are clearly defined, communicated, well understood and considered as part of the operational prioritization, delivery and planning.
  • Understanding and Documenting Requirements. Work closely with business partners to gather complex business requirements and facilitate solution design discussions to ensure you meet project needs.

Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements.

Work with functional experts in lines of business as well as in other areas such as Risk, Compliance, Technology, HR, Legal, Privacy, Architecture and Information Security, to ensure that risk management objectives are considered as part of development of strong Data & Records Management Program and overall Governance Framework.

  • You have a degree / diploma in CA, CMA, MBA, CIA, CISA, advanced Data Management or Information Management and / or in related field.

3-5 years of experience in financial services and / or information governance, and industry designations is preferred, but not mandatory.

You have experience in supporting enterprise-wide data governance program. Data quality and metadata management to ensure users and regulatory requirements are met.
