About the Role
As Facilities Manager, you will take ownership of all facility systems, utilities, and maintenance operations while acting as the on-site technical expert supporting uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership & Maintenance
Provide hands-on leadership across all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, utilities, and infrastructure, ensuring reliable day-to-day operations and rapid issue resolution.
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
Maintain EU-GMP and Health Canada compliance by ensuring maintenance activities, validation work, and documentation remain accurate, controlled, and audit-ready.
- Vendor & Contractor Management
Coordinate external service providers, manage vendor performance, and oversee maintenance contracts, upgrades, and emergency repairs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Security teams to align facility readiness with operational needs, new product introductions, and process changes.
- Preventative Maintenance & Infrastructure Management
Lead preventative and predictive maintenance strategies while managing spare parts, facility budgets, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Control
Promote a strong safety culture, maintain controlled environments, and support sustainability initiatives across the site.
- Leadership & Team Development
Supervise facility personnel and contractors while driving training, SOP development, and continuous improvement across the facilities function.
About You
You are a hands-on technical leader who thrives in operational environments and enjoys being directly involved in keeping complex facilities running efficiently.
Essential:
- Facilities, maintenance, or technical operations experience in a regulated environment (cannabis, pharma, or food preferred)
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and HVAC troubleshooting capability
- Working knowledge of GMP, GACP, ISO, or comparable quality systems
- Experience leading technicians, contractors, or small technical teams
- Proven experience managing maintenance programs and budgets
- Experience with CMMS, compliance tracking systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Hands-on leadership style with strong execution focus
Desirable:
- Direct experience within medicinal cannabis production environments
- EU-GMP facility or regulated manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of cultivation processes or cannabis plant biology
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections and audits
- Building Automation Systems (BAS / Argus) experience
- Trade certification or engineering background (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Industrial)
- Project management certification (CFM, PMP) or equivalent
