The Opportunity

This position is based at our Saint‑Laurent head office within the Nutrition Supply Chain division and requires on‑site presence four days per week, with the option to work remotely one day.

The primary goal of this position is to provide leadership and develop ANPD Supply Chain warehousing & Transportation, insuring that third party & carrier operations are managed following division policies and guidelines. Allow for the opportunity to positively impact processes, strategies, tactics and procedures to meet internal and external customer requirements, best-in-class practices, while containing costs and capitalizing on improvement opportunities. Develop staff to meet the current and future demands of these critical areas of supply chain operations and transportation. Provide sound, accurate information to Finance, Operations and Customer Service organizations. Work cross-functionally with IT management and staff to establish and develop goals, projects and budgets that line up with overall company objectives. Provide guidance to Distribution Center management & Transportation staffs to meet assigned goals and operational responsibilities as well as management of the budget.

What You’ll Do

Warehouse, Transportation Management and Strategy

• Develop and implement cost improvement programs in Distribution & Transportation services.
• Manage relationships between the Division and Third Party providers.
• Negotiate rates, service / inventory levels and operating procedures.
• Execute warehouse contracts and agreements.
• Integrate with the AN commercial division to harness strategic synergies and continue to improve support.
• Lead monthly and quarterly warehouse reviews that cover SOP’s, goals and objectives and develop action plans for future improvement.
• Keep abreast of changing business conditions both in the healthcare industry and in the Distribution and Transportation sectors.
• Define the lowest cost for distribution and transportation strategies.

Service, Management and Leadership

• Develop and foster close relationships with internal departments, such as Customer Service, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and Material Managers, Quality Assurance, Transportation, Traffic, etc.
• Present to senior executives on the state of the warehousing & transportation business, both operationally and financially through profit and loss and operations business reviews.
• Manage and develop the Warehouse & Transportation team, including hiring, goal setting, performance management, coaching, career development and training.
• Partner with other senior members of Operations, IT and the Supply Chain to define develop and create projects to build functionality necessary to drive improvements and ensure the warehousing business & transportation activities achieve and sustain best-in-class status.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and provide expertise to support internal/external audits.

Operations/Systems

• Partner with third party manufacturers and third party distributors to report packaging issues and causal data associated with returns and damage.
• Serve as the liaison between warehouses and internal process improvement / development teams where necessary for system and data integration.
• Develop a formal process to review problem areas from a warehousing & transportation. perspective and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with inter-related areas of the Division.
• Support warehouse selection and space utilization incorporating warehouse management systems to optimize service and costs.
• Document and manage the effective implementation of all operating and systems procedures, including responsibility for all operational/tactical functions.
• Support areas of the Supply Chain and Sales in resolving all customer warehouse and delivery issues.
• Lead tactical planning discussions, meetings, or teams associated with the warehouse / logistics organization, including warehouse & transportation performance reviews and perfect order metrics.
• Responsible for utilization of shipment related Electronic Data Interchange transaction sets to improve ANSC supply chain performance.
• Manage the cold chain activities, which include the improvement of current practices and the development of new improved practices.
• Manage all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they reflect current practice.

Lot Control/Processes/Compliance

• Work with national food pantries and charitable organizations to donate short-dated product.
• Generate and manage destruction orders and actual disposition of expired inventory.
• Manage the system recall process for quality and field product inquiries. Provide necessary history data as requested by management.
• Maintain workflow by studying methods; implementing cost reductions, developing reporting procedures; and improve efficiencies.
• Resolve supply chain issues by analyzing data, and identifying solutions.
• Review KPI’s with 3PL sites to ensure that service level goals are achieved.
• Conduct business review meetings with the carriers.
• Achieve and report KPI’s for DC and carrier performance. Identify issues and conduct root cause analysis and process improvements.
• Assist the QA team and internal auditors during audits. Coordinate the plan of action with the DC managers.
• Monitor TPM and STO Inbounds to ensure that contractual obligations are within compliance.
• Develop and maintain high levels of operational control & GMP compliance within areas such as safety, environmental control and QA, while adhering to corporate and government guidelines.
• Work with the US Transportation team on the contracts/agreements: SOWs, backhaul programs, Quality agreements, RFP’s and rate negotiation with carriers.

Required Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain, IT or Engineering.
• Six to eight years of management experience in warehousing, transportation, manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of warehousing operations, transportation and pricing mechanics.
• The incumbent must be able to communicate well in English (50% of the time), as his or her duties require interaction with stakeholders and colleagues outside Quebec and Canada.
