Job descriptionHello from Erin Mills, Mississauga. We are looking for a reliable, responsible, and caring nanny for our three children on a part time or full time, long term basis (or May-August for those looking for summer work) starting mid May 2026. The children will be 6, 8 and 10 years old this year and are all in full day school during the school year. This is a live out position. Mom is a physician and Dad is a firefighter. Thus due to our work schedules, we have some days where we require longer hours, while other days have shorter hours or are completely off. Our schedule can be set up to average 25 to 40 hours per week, depending on the candidate's preference, or even fewer hours when the children are in school if desired. Typically we require assistance 2-4 days per week with most shifts being 7am-7pm or 7am to 5pm. Ideally, for full time hours, shifts would include an 8 hour shift one Saturday every 4 weeks and one 6-8 hour shift one Sunday every 4 weeks, but could consider scheduling all hours during the weekdays for the right candidate. A photo of a sample schedule is included in our photo gallery so that it is easier to visualize and in the text below. There is some flexibility around how the hours are distributed so if you have any questions or would like to learn more please contact us, however because the days of the parents' work shifts vary, we do need someone who can be available at minimum on the weekdays needed that week between 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM during the school year and full days on the weekdays they are working during the children's summer break from school (last few days of June to August). During the children's school year there would be an option to work just before or after school on certain weekdays eg. 7-9AM and 3-6 PM or to continue longer shifts such as 7 AM- 7 PM for candidates looking for more hours of work. Sample schedules: July-August or if looking for full time hours (sample schedule with average 40 hrs/week): Week 1 Mon 7:00AM-7:30PM, Tues 7:00AM-5:00PM , Thurs 7:00AM-7:30PM, Fri 7:00AM-5:00 PM Week 2 Tues 7:00AM-7:30PM, Wed 7:00AM-7:30PM, Fri 7:00AM-7:30PM, Week 3 Sun 1:00PM-6:00PM, Mon 7:00AM-5:00PM, Wed 7:00AM-7:30PM, Thurs 7:00AM-5:00PM Week 4 Sat 9:30 AM-6:30 PM, Tues 7:00AM-7:30PM, Wed 7:00AM-7:30PM, Sat 5:00PM-11:00 PM September-June minimum hours schedule which is an average of 8.75 hrs/week with range from 5-14 hrs (but could continue full time hours if desired or anything in between): Week 1 Mon 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM, Tues 7-9 AM, Thurs 7-9AM and 3-6 PM, Fri 7-9AM Week 2 Fri 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM Week 3 Mon 7-9 AM, Wed, 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM, Thurs 7-9AM Week 4 Tues 7-9 AM and 3-6 PM, Wed 7-9 AM The ideal candidate would have experience caring for multiple children and be very safety-oriented. They would be comfortable taking the children on outings in the neighbourhood (eg. walks on nearby paths, visits to the local playground). Responsibilities would include caring for the children, walking them to and from school, taking them to some activities/lessons, meal preparation and cooking, and depending on the number of hours worked per week, housekeeping, laundry for the family, occasional shopping and household errands, and baking. The ability to drive /- their own car is not mandatory but an asset, thus someone who has a valid driver's license is preferred but not required. Current CPR and first aid training are also required. We have a gentle and well-behaved Labrador retriever dog who is very much a part of the family so some pet care is involved. At minimum, he needs to be fed and let in and out of the backyard as needed during the day. A candidate who is comfortable taking him on short walks around the neighbourhood is preferred. Pay will be negotiated commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualification with a range of $20.00 to $30.00 per hour (gross pay before taxes). Minimum Qualifications: • Proficient in English • Authorized to work in Canada • Experience in Canada caring for school aged children • Up-to-date paediatric first aid and CPR training • Criminal record check • References from previous employers in Canada • Ontario drivers licence is an asset If this sounds like it could be a good fit for you, we would love to hear from you!
