Job description

HR Manager (Performance, Compensation & Development)

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an HR Manager for a legacy, privately held real estate developer-builder with a significant land portfolio and an active pipeline of industrial and mixed-use projects across Western Canada.

This is not a transactional HR role.

This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact, highly visible position within a well-capitalized organization that continues to invest, build, and grow—regardless of market conditions.

You will take ownership of the company’s performance management, compensation cycles, and leadership development initiatives, working directly with senior leaders across the business.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the annual performance review cycle and ongoing performance management processes
  • Own compensation planning, including bonus frameworks and calibration discussions
  • Drive learning & development initiatives, with a focus on leadership coaching and capability building
  • Act as a strategic HR partner to business leaders across development, construction, and corporate teams
  • Support and optimize HR systems (UKG and Lever) to improve reporting, workflows, and decision-making
  • Coach managers on performance, feedback, and team development
  • Identify opportunities to elevate HR programs and bring structure to a growing organization

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–10+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a mid-to-large private organization
  • Strong background in performance management, compensation, and employee development
  • Experience working closely with operational leaders (construction, development, or similar environments is a strong asset)
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, non-bureaucratic environment
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (UKG preferred; Lever or similar ATS is an asset)
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Someone who prefers building and improving systems over maintaining the status quo
