Job description
School District No. 83 (K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl'ecw) is accepting applications for Certified Learning Resource Teachers. Our DistrictIn the K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District, we serve just over 6700 students in 26 schools through a variety of sites located around Shuswap Lake and the North Okanagan. We are known for strong academic achievement, a thriving trades and careers program, and a rich culture of school athletics. The school district supports Indigenous learners from five distinct communities, which include the Adams Lake Band, the Little Shuswap Lake Band, the Neskonlith Band, the Splatsin First Nation, and the Salmon Arm Metis Association. Add in quick access to larger centers and very affordable housing, and it is clear that the North Okanagan-Shuswap is a truly desirable place to live.Qualifications:Master's degree or Diploma/Certificate in Special Education;Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;Advanced level course work in Assessment and experience in administering, interpreting and reporting on Level B assessment.Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (or willingness to train)Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:Evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students, parents, and community partners;Demonstrated ability to work collegially and as part of the school-based team;Demonstrated ability to complete detail-oriented work, manage time and organize workflow;Current knowledge of and good skills with technology platforms;Successful teaching experience, including experience supporting students with disabilities and diverse abilities and excellent classroom management;Experience with planning, implementing, and monitoring academic interventions;Demonstrated experience in providing behavioural support and leading targeted interventions (including developing, implementing and monitoring data-informed Positive Behaviour Support Plans);Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, including Universal Design for Learning and universal strategies to support student learning (academic and behavioural);Experience in collaborative CBIEP development, implementation, progress monitoring and regular reporting;Experience writing CBIEPs within the MyEd BC platform;Ability to schedule, support and direct Certified Education Assistants (in collaboration with Principal and/or Vice Principal);Knowledge of current instructional and inclusive practices;Capacity to support a wide range of students' educational programming needs.The Learning Resource Teacher is responsible for:Case and file management (including detailed record keeping), diagnostic assessment, planning, evaluation and implementation of Individual Education Plans and Positive Behaviour Support Plans for students either claimed or unclaimed within the Ministry of Education categories, as well as collaborative supervision and direction of Certified Education Assistants. Collaborative planning within a multi-disciplinary team including classroom teachers, school-based personnel, and district itinerant specialists.Wherever possible, working in classrooms to support classroom students and classroom teachers.
