As a member of the Operations Team, the Material Handling Supervisor is accountable for the execution, coordination, and continuous improvement of inbound material flow, internal inventory movement, and production material readiness.

This role provides direct leadership to the material handling team and owns performance outcomes related to inventory accuracy, material flow efficiency, space utilization, and operational discipline across receiving, storage, and internal movement. Shipping execution is not within scope.

Requirements

Operations & Material Flow

  • Oversee receiving, put-away, inventory movement, and production picking
  • Ensure materials are accurately received, stored, and staged for production
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined ERP transactions
  • Identify and communicate risks impacting material flow or availability

Warehouse & Space Management

  • Own inbound storage, racking, and material placement
  • Optimize layout to reduce handling, travel, and congestion
  • Maintain clear flow from receiving through to production staging
  • Ensure defined handoff to Shipping

Team Leadership & Utilization

  • Lead and manage material handling team performance, attendance, and conduct
  • Plan and deploy labour based on inbound volume and production demand
  • Ensure effective use of forklifts, equipment, and team resources
  • Support training and cross-training to maintain flexibility

Safety, Standards & Issue Resolution

  • Enforce safety requirements, SOPs, and standard work
  • Address inventory discrepancies, process issues, and non-compliance
  • Resolve issues within scope; escalate with clear facts and actions
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve material flow, inventory accuracy, and space utilization
  • Reinforce standard work and inventory discipline
  • Support implementation of process or system improvements

Key Accountabilities

  • Receiving accuracy and throughput
  • Inventory bin accuracy
  • Production material readiness
  • Warehouse organization and space utilization
  • Labour and equipment utilization

Out of Scope

  • Shipping execution and outbound coordination

What we are looking for:

  • 3–5 years supervisory experience in warehouse/material handling
  • Strong team leadership and labour planning capability
  • Experience with ERP inventory transactions
  • Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of safety and warehouse operations
  • Clear communication and problem-solving skills
  • Forklift experience required
