Job descriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Controls & Automation Technician to oversee the programming, maintenance, and optimization of complex automated production systems. This role is central to driving operational efficiency, maximizing uptime, and ensuring superior product quality through the strategic use of advanced technology.

Position: Controls Technician/ PLC Programmer
Shift Schedule: Rotating 2-week schedule (Days, Afternoons, Midnights) with competitive shift premiums.
Payrate: $34-45 - depending on experience and skill level

Responsibilities
System Programming: Develop and troubleshoot PLC logic for high-capacity automated production lines, including both localized and remote interventions.
Integration & Robotics: Design and implement control interfaces for FANUC robotics (MIG welding, laser cutting, material handling) and vision-guided systems.
Architecture & Design: Build and maintain standard PLC structures primarily within the Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ecosystem.
Safety Systems: Integrate safety PLC structures and architectural designs to ensure a secure machine control environment.
HMI & Data: Develop HMI interfaces using Ignition and Rockwell software; manage data collection flows and historian archiving for performance analysis.
Hardware Support: Utilize AutoCAD for machine design modification; provide technical support for motion control, VFD applications, and servo-hydraulic systems.
Process Improvement: Lead root-cause analysis for downtime events and implement preventive measures to enhance equipment repeatability and throughput.
Qualifications
Education: Completion of a 2-year post-secondary program in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or a related technical field.
Certification: Must hold a recognized Certificate of Qualification (e.g., Electrician, Millwright, or specialized Automation/Controls Technician designation).
Technical Skills: Proven experience with Rockwell PLCs, robotic integration, and machine vision inspection systems.
Mindset: A proactive approach to safety, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
