Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The Division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank – from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.
Reporting into the Crew Tech Lead, you will be part of a highly skilled, collaborative and culturally diversified Engineering team. This role would be ideal for an experienced Data Engineer with commendable recent experience working in big data projects, along with a strong background in managing multiple stakeholder groups and strong technical leadership experience. You will come with a strong blend of skills in data engineering and data delivery, along with a commendable exposure in implementing end-to-end Big Data solutions.

Specialised experience in implementing solutions in complex projects with strong data integration focus will be highly regarded for this role
Possess ability to produce conceptual, logical and physical data models using data modelling techniques
Has the ability to design data warehousing and enterprise analytics-based solutions using relevant data platforms
Proven record of accomplishment of Agile delivery including leading and working on a project from pre-inception through to business and technical delivery, including the support and maintenance of delivered systems.
Ability to lead, direct, coach and guide software developers.
Driving pragmatic and fit for purpose solutions of high technical quality. Act as "Quality Advocate" for the squad, encourage critical thinking mindset and drive prevention of defects over detection of defect.
Identify, define, document and advocate for the most appropriate approaches to achieve stated business goals objectives and deliver the product vision, whilst remaining aligned with organizational target architectures and roadmaps
Provide tools, expertise, and knowledge to help squad gain a shared understanding of outcome and shared ownership of quality.
Support the team in delivering quality outcomes within committed time frames.
Follow secure code practice.
Possess commendable experience in consistently driving cost effective and technologically feasible solutions, while steering solution decisions across the group, to meet both operational and strategic goals is essential.
Are adept with abilities to positively influence the adoption of new products, solutions and processes, to align with the existing Information Architectural design would be desirable
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
Minimum 10+ years of experience with expert level knowledge, with more than 2 years technical leadership experience, working with the following languages, SAS.
Data Designing/ Dimensional modelling, Logical Data model, Conceptual Data model, Physical Data model + Performance optimization, Query tuning, troubleshooting + Cloud Certifications
Experience in building and working with Spark ETL (Extract Transform Load) desirable.
AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud (working experience with some of the core services EMR, EC2, S3, Auto-scaling, etc.) desirable.
Experience with large migration programs and automating things to scale up migrations from on-prem to cloud. Hands on, Design and develop exceptionally reliable and scalable data pipelines and data platforms with comprehensive test coverage.
Deliver data engineering solutions aligned to core concepts of data design, preparation, transformation, and load.
Build and implement data pipelines in distributed data platforms including warehouses, databases, data lakes and cloud Lake houses to enable data predictions and models and reporting and visualization analysis via data integration tools and frameworks.
Experience working with the following Tools:
Source Control systems such as Git
Build & Deployment tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy
Database – SQL, PL/SQL , Hadoop
Strong experience in SAS / R / Python, Snowflake
Monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics
Awareness of the following Software Development Concepts
Strong design skills around big data frameworks
AWS Architecture
Secure Coding Practices
