About the Role
McKesson Canada’s PDCI/Specialty Health team is seeking a Senior Health Economist to provide expert leadership on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and health economic evaluations supporting pharmaceutical reimbursement and market access strategies in Canada.
In this senior individual contributor role, you will lead the development of cost-effectiveness models, budget impact analyses, and economic evidence for submission to Canadian HTA bodies and public and private payers. You will translate complex economic analyses into clear, decision‑relevant insights and act as a trusted subject‑matter expert for internal stakeholders and external clients.
This role is well suited to an experienced professional who combines technical health economics expertise with strong communication skills, project ownership, and an understanding of the evolving Canadian payer and HTA landscape.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the design, development, validation, and documentation of health economic models, including cost‑effectiveness and budget impact analyses, for Canadian HTA and payer submissions.
- Develop high‑quality HTA economic reports aligned with CADTH, INESSS, and public/private payer requirements.
- Apply expert judgment to model structure, assumptions, sensitivity analyses, and interpretation of results.
- Monitor and interpret Canadian reimbursement, payer, and HTA trends, guidelines, and decision‑making frameworks.
- Serve as a primary technical contact for clients and HTA agencies on economic evidence and methodology.
- Translate complex economic and methodological concepts into clear, concise insights for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with clinical, regulatory, and project teams to deliver high‑impact submissions.
- Contribute technical expertise to business development activities, including proposals, capability presentations, and conferences.
Basic Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, typically requiring 7+ years of relevant professional experience in health economics, HTA, or related analytical roles.
- Demonstrated experience developing health economic models and supporting reimbursement or HTA submissions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for economic modeling and analysis.
- Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and timelines independently.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Graduate‑level education (e.g., Health Economics, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Biostatistics).
- Direct experience with Canadian HTA agencies (e.g., CADTH, INESSS) or public/private payer environments.
- Experience in decision‑analytic modeling, including sensitivity and scenario analyses.
- Proficiency in R and/or Python for statistical or economic analysis.
- Experience conducting indirect treatment comparisons (anchored and unanchored).
- Exposure to or interest in applying advanced analytics, automation, or AI‑enabled tools in health economics.
- Fluency in French.
Travel, Location & Physical Requirements:
- Hybrid or office‑based role within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or Montreal.
- Occasional travel may be required for client meetings or conferences.
- Primarily desk‑based work involving computer and analytical tasks.
