Leisure Camp Leader (Summer Camp)
Job Details: Full-Time/ 30+ hrs/ week | Seasonal (June- August) | Hourly Pay: $19 - $20 per hour | Start date: TBC | Work Environment: On-site, indoor, and outdoor camp settings

Richmond Country Club (RCC) is seeking energetic, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Leisure Camp Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to create memorable summer experiences for children in a fun, supportive, and team-oriented club environment.
Our Leisure Camp Leaders play a vital role in delivering high-quality day camp programming filled with sports, creative activities, swimming, and special events. If you enjoy working with children, leading activities, and being part of a fun and positive team culture, this role is for you!
About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Head Camp Leader and the Director of Member Services, the Leisure Camp Leader is responsible for supervising campers and leading safe, engaging, and inclusive recreational programs. Leaders help create a welcoming environment where children feel supported, active, and excited to participate each day.
This role requires strong leadership, creativity, teamwork, and a commitment to child safety.
What's Expected From This Role
Camper Supervision & Safety
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all campers
- Provide active supervision across all activities and transitions
- Follow safety procedures and respond to incidents, including basic first aid
- Maintain accurate attendance and sign-in/sign-out processes
- Support proper sun safety, hydration, cleanliness, and rest
Program Planning & Activity Leadership
- Lead and support daily camp activities and events
- Assist with planning themed weeks and special programming
- Adapt activities to suit varying ages, abilities, and interests
- Encourage teamwork, participation, and sportsmanship
- Set up and maintain equipment and activity spaces
- Foster inclusive, engaging programming
Behaviour Guidance & Camper Support
- Promote respectful behaviour and positive conflict resolution
- Support campers through challenges using age-appropriate strategies
- Manage and de-escalate behavioural situations professionally
- Maintain camper dignity and inclusion at all times
- Communicate concerns to senior staff as needed
- Act as a positive role model
Communication & Administration
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians
- Address questions, concerns, and feedback with care
- Escalate sensitive matters appropriately
- Support registration, attendance tracking, and group organization
- Assist with incident reporting and daily summaries
Teamwork & Leadership
- Collaborate with team members and club staff
- Contribute ideas to enhance camp programming
- Foster a positive, respectful, and energetic team environment
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Experience working in a camp or youth program setting
- Experience working with children ages 5–12
- Criminal Record Check, Standard First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Preferred:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Post-secondary education in Recreation, Education, Kinesiology, Child & Youth Care, or a related field
- Experience leading sports, arts & crafts, or outdoor recreation programs

Schedule Requirements
- Monday – Friday (8:30 am – 4:30 pm)
- Must be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods
