About the Role
We are looking for a Controller to lead Ocean Trailer’s Accounting Team reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is a fulltime permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, in our head office in Delta, BC.
Primary Duties
- Oversee full-cycle accounting: AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, month-end/year-end close, and multi-entity bookkeeping
- Work with CFO to help prepare financial statements, trial balances, and management reports
- Maintain accurate balance sheet, inventory, and fixed asset accounts
- Ensure timely tax filings and regulatory compliance (GST/HST, payroll, corporate tax)
- Implement and maintain payment and receivable tracking systems
- Protect general ledger integrity and reconciliation quality
- Review payroll, deductions, benefits, severance, and final pay
- Prepare and file GST/PST/EHT, corporate taxes, and other provincial/federal filings
- Assist with internal/external audits and maintain organized, audit‑ready records
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies
- Maintain ERP/accounting software accuracy and confidentiality
- Identify and implement process improvements and workflow efficiencies
- Manage expense tracking, reimbursements, and interdepartmental reporting
- Mentoring of accounting team with respect to day‑to‑day financial operations
- Perform other related duties as required.
About You
- Post‑secondary education in relevant discipline
- Designated CPA, required
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in a relevant industry, nice to have
- Working knowledge of NetSuite ERP software, preferred
- Ability to be courteous and professional with customers and co‑workers, while establishing and maintaining solid relationships
- Strong team management experience
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to make informed decisions and/or suggestions to improve efficiency
