The Job – Water Damage Technician
At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it’s one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls.
This position will have a focus on our Health Care work, cleanliness and attention to detail are key factors. Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a WDTs day. Working as a team, WDTs complete the job from zero to hero!
What you bring:
A WDT brings a bunch of abilities to their work, the most important being a ‘get it done!’ attitude.
Additional abilities include:
- Detail oriented when it comes to cleanliness: mitigating contaminants and dust. This is for Health Care and cleanliness is key
- Demolition experience- careful, mindful, good housekeeping
- Ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude— you can look at something and just know how it works
- Capable of teamwork: doing mitigation/demolition/rebuild/final clean
- Availability to work 10-12 days as required (earlier starts, later finish)
- Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
- Physically fit— water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
- A safety-first mindset, strong work ethic, reliable
- Committing to wearing full PPE as required for the job, including being clean shaven for full face masks (if applicable)
- Valid driver’s licence & clean drivers abstract
- Able to successfully satisfy On Side’s criminal record check requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
