THE ROLE:

PETRONAS Canada is currently seeking a Health & Safety Field Coordinator for our Fort St. John area. Reporting to the Team Lead, Health & Safety, the successful incumbent will be responsible for conducting risk assessments and identifying workplace hazards, investigating incidents, recommending corrective actions and providing statistical summaries of health and safety performance. The geographical footprint for this role is in the Northeast BC area with occasional travel to Calgary. The incumbent will be based out of our 132 camp located in the Fort St. John area on a 14 days on/ 14 days off shift rotation schedule. Availability for on-call support is required while on shift.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Engage with functional areas/on-site support personnel to promote Health & Safety initiatives and drive safety culture
  • Provide deep subject matter expertise in areas of H&S, such as lifting/rigging, ground disturbance, energy isolation, working at heights, permit to work, exposure control and/or confined space
  • Monitor site conditions and performance, identifying opportunities to improve work site processes, practices and procedures, monitoring changes in health and safety industry best practices and regulatory requirements, and providing input into the development of work plans, standards, procedures, and work practices
  • Monitor HSE performance across the business area of responsibility, analyze trends, and support business management in the development of corrective action plans to improve performance
  • Provide verification that PETRONAS CANADA HSE Management System and Mandatory Control Framework, H&S standards, procedures and work practices are implemented, supported, understood and effective

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • A professional Health & Safety designation such as Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) would be considered an asset
  • 8+ years of progressively more responsible health and safety experience, preferably directly related to the upstream oil and gas industry
  • Previous experience leading investigations
  • Taproot/DNV or equivalent investigation analysis training would be an asset
  • Experience with Industrial Hygiene, Human Factors and/or Process Safety considered an asset
  • Familiar with environmental issues and regulatory frameworks for BC
  • Solid knowledge of BC Occupational Health & Safety regulations
