The Opportunity
Real Estate Webmasters is looking for a finance leader who is genuinely excited about our future and possesses the drive to help us reach our long-term goals. We need a Finance Team Lead who acts as the bridge between high-level strategy and daily execution.
We value innovation and efficiency over tradition. We aren't looking for someone to simply maintain the status quo; we need a leader who is eager to identify smarter ways of working and help us reach our full potential through operational excellence. If you love clarity, discipline, and possess the drive to help a business grow by embracing better processes and modern tools, you will fit right in.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You aren't just overseeing the work; you are a key part of the team that gets it done. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of our daily operations, from our proprietary software to our unique billing cycles.
Because we value collaboration and manage physical transactions—such as writing cheques and performing bank runs—this role requires a consistent physical presence in our downtown Nanaimo office.
- Onboarding & Integration: You will work full-time from the office for at least the first 3–6 months to fully immerse yourself in our processes and document our workflows.
- Long-Term Flexibility: Once you are fully up to speed, we offer a hybrid schedule with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week in the office. If you prefer working on-site 100% of the time, we fully support that as well.
No matter where you are working, your focus remains the same: leading, mentoring, and ensuring the financial health of the business alongside your team.
Our Core Values
At REW, we live and breathe these values. We expect our everyone on the team to embody them every day:
- Innovation: Staying curious, open-minded, and always looking for ways to do things more efficiently.
- Customer Success: Caring deeply about delivering great service to both internal and external clients.
- Always be Awesome: Remaining positive and helpful even when days are tough; supporting colleagues in a way that elevates the team
What You'll Do
- Financial Stewardship: Facilitate the budget, cash flow, and financial statements while identifying tangible ways to increase revenue and reduce costs.
- Operational Excellence: Facilitate the daily financial operations, including vendor tracking, customer billing, and compliance, while ensuring we are maximizing our financial software stack.
- Process Innovation: Review existing agreements and workflows to identify efficiencies. You will look for opportunities to modernize our processes, including the implementation of AI and automation where it makes sense and is compliant for the business.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide the guidance and encouragement necessary to build a high-performing department. You will be responsible for mentoring the team, fostering a culture of accountability, and building morale.
- Strategic Resourcing: Manage payments for new sales contracts, IDX and ensure accounts remain up to date. You will collaborate closely with Account Management and our Agency to ensure our data feeds and documentation processes are seamless.
Who You Are
- Accounting Expertise: You hold a CPA designation or are actively working toward one. You have a deep understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting, and you take pride in delivering accurate, actionable financial data.
- Mid-Level Professional: You have 5+ years of experience in finance, with at least 2 years of experience managing or mentoring others. You are ready to step into a leadership role where you can still be involved in the day-to-day work.
- The Right Fit: You possess a 'no ego' attitude and a team player mindset. You lead through encouragement rather than command and control, and you genuinely enjoy helping your colleagues succeed and building team morale.
- Tech-Forward: You are highly proficient in G-Suite/MS Office and comfortable working in a Mac environment. You adapt to new software quickly and are always looking for ways to use technology to improve accuracy and save time.
- Analytical & Concise: You can take complex data and summarize it into clear insights for the leadership team. You value collaboration that helps both the team and the business reach their long-term goals.
