Role Description
The SQL Database Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise‑grade database solutions. This role requires strong hands‑on experience building complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance‑tuned database components while supporting large‑scale applications and data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Development
Design, develop, and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
Create and optimize complex SQL queries for applications and reporting.
Develop data solutions supporting enterprise systems and pipelines.
Performance Tuning & Optimization
Perform query optimization, index tuning, and execution plan analysis.
Troubleshoot slow‑running queries and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Enhance database scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
Data Modeling & Architecture
Develop and maintain logical and physical data models.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and ensure integrity.
Support schema design for OLTP and OLAP environments.
ETL & Integration
Develop or enhance ETL processes using SSIS or similar tools.
Ensure accurate and efficient data movement across systems.
Work with Data Engineering teams to support pipeline operations.
Database Management
Support backup, recovery, security configurations, and partitioning.
Maintain database health and ensure high availability (clustering, replication, Always On where applicable).
Manage SQL Agent jobs and scheduling tasks.
Required Skills
Strong experience with MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) or other RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Expertise in T‑SQL and complex stored procedure development.
Deep understanding of query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
Strong knowledge of database architecture, normalization, and data modeling.
Hands‑on experience with SSIS, ETL tools, and SQL Agent jobs.
Experience with large datasets in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with source control tools (Git, Azure DevOps, etc.).
