Position: Superintendent, Logistics
Location: Kapuskasing, ON

GreenFirst is looking for a Logistics Superintendent to plan, organize and coordinate the harvest, road construction & transportation operations for the Kapuskasing, Opasatika, and Hearst Divisions, ensuring quality work with a view to supplying the mills in accordance with corporate objectives while maintaining a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
  • Lead a motivated, efficient and engaged team and provide career development opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
  • Provide direction to operations supervisors, conferring with customers, consultants, contractors or suppliers.
  • Support compliance with collective agreements and sound union/management/employee relations.
  • Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed.
  • Develop and maintain a good rapport between labor, customers, outside agencies, other users and management.
  • Report to Woodlands Manager – Forest Management, Northern Ontario West.
  • Participate in short term and mid-term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff selection and projects to be undertaken.
  • Prepare and develop harvest, road and transportation schedules, authorize expenditures, review and analyze financial reports and take appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Woodlands operations to maintain production targets, quality of wood product and wood supply for the Kapuskasing and Hearst Sawmills.
  • Prepare wood order, harvest and transportation schedules.
  • Establish and report operational KPI’s.
  • Lead the wood measurement & quality Program.
  • Lead synergy program and ensure all departments actions are optimized.
  • Provide relief supervision.
  • Lead the continuous improvement Program.
  • Lead for on-boarding new supervisors.
  • Ensure that all operations adhere to the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws and Regulations.
  • Report and explain deviations from planned activities.
  • Recommend changes/improvements to all operations of Northern Ontario West to the Woodlands Manager.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Education: College diploma or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience: Must have 5 plus years in a similar role.
  • Bilingual: (English & French) An asset

GreenFirst recherche un(e) surintendant en logistique chargé de planifier, d'organiser et de coordonner les opérations d'abattage, de construction de routes et de transport pour les divisions de Kapuskasing, d'Opasatika et de Hearst, en veillant à la qualité du travail afin d'approvisionner les scieries conformément aux objectifs de l'entreprise, tout en garantissant la rentabilité des opérations.

Responsabilités:
  • Promouvoir et fournir un lieu de travail sûr, rechercher des améliorations et soutenir le programme de santé et de sécurité.
  • Diriger une équipe motivée, efficace et engagée, et offrir des opportunités de développement de carrière.
  • Accompagner et encadrer les employés afin d’assurer un rendement optimal.
  • Donner des orientations aux superviseurs des opérations, en concertation avec les clients, les consultants, les sous-traitants ou les fournisseurs.
  • Veiller au respect des conventions collectives et entretenir de bonnes relations entre le syndicat, la direction et les employés.
  • Gérer un programme de communication pour tenir votre équipe informée.
  • Établir et maintenir de bonnes relations entre le personnel, les clients, les organismes externes, les autres utilisateurs et la direction.
  • Relevant du responsable des terres forestières – Gestion forestière, Nord de l’Ontario Ouest.
  • Participer à la planification à court et moyen terme concernant les besoins budgétaires, la sélection du personnel et les projets à entreprendre.
  • Préparer et élaborer les calendriers de récolte, de voirie et de transport, autoriser les dépenses, examiner et analyser les rapports financiers et prendre les mesures appropriées.
  • Coordonner les activités des opérations forestières afin de maintenir les objectifs de production, la qualité des produits du bois et l’approvisionnement en bois pour les scieries de Kapuskasing et de Hearst.
  • Préparer les calendriers de commande, de récolte et de transport du bois.
  • Établir et rendre compte des indicateurs clés de performance (KPI) opérationnels.
  • Diriger le programme de mesure et de contrôle qualité du bois.
  • Diriger le programme de synergie et veiller à l’optimisation des actions de tous les services.
  • Assurer la supervision en cas d’absence.
  • Diriger le programme d’amélioration continue.
  • Assurer l’intégration des nouveaux superviseurs.
  • Veiller à ce que toutes les opérations respectent les lois et règlements fédéraux, provinciaux et municipaux.
  • Signaler et expliquer tout écart par rapport aux activités prévues.
  • Recommander au responsable de Woodlands des changements ou des améliorations concernant l'ensemble des opérations de Northern Ontario West.
  • Accomplir toute autre tâche connexe qui lui est confiée.
Exigences:
  • Formation : Diplôme universitaire ou équivalent dans un domaine connexe.
  • Expérience : Au moins 5 ans d'expérience dans un poste similaire.
