Job Summary
Cogency Inc. is seeking a strategic and hands-on Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in retail supply chain to lead large-scale digital transformation and modernization initiatives.
This role will drive enterprise architecture strategy across merchandising, inventory, omnichannel fulfillment, and logistics, leveraging cloud, data platforms, and AI/ML to enable smarter, faster, and more resilient retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Define and drive enterprise architecture strategy aligned with retail business goals and digital roadmap
- Establish architecture governance, standards, and best practices
- Lead architecture review boards and ensure alignment across programs and portfolios
Retail Supply Chain Transformation
- Drive transformation across retail supply chain domains:
- Merchandising & assortment planning
- Inventory optimization & replenishment
- Warehouse & distribution management
- Omnichannel fulfillment (BOPIS, ship-from-store, last-mile delivery)
- Enable real-time visibility across supply chain networks
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
- Lead adoption of AI/ML solutions for:
- Demand forecasting and inventory optimization
- Pricing and promotion optimization
- Supply chain risk detection and anomaly identification
- Drive data-driven decision-making across retail operations
Modernization & Cloud Strategy
- Lead legacy modernization, cloud migration, and platform consolidation initiatives
- Architect scalable, cloud-native solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Promote microservices, API-first, and event-driven architectures
Data & Platform Architecture
- Define enterprise data strategy including data lakes, real-time streaming, and analytics platforms
- Enable data democratization for business users and analytics teams
- Ensure data governance, quality, and compliance
Stakeholder & Delivery Leadership
- Partner with business leaders, product teams, and IT leadership
- Influence senior stakeholders on technology investments and roadmap
- Mentor architecture and engineering teams
- Collaborate with vendors and implementation partners
Required Skills & Experience
- 10–15 years of IT experience including enterprise architecture roles
- Strong experience in retail supply chain domain:
- Merchandising, inventory, logistics, omnichannel fulfillment
- Proven track record in enterprise-scale transformation programs
- Experience implementing AI/ML solutions in retail or supply chain
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Deep understanding of integration patterns, APIs, and microservices
- Experience with enterprise platforms (SAP, Oracle, or retail systems)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with retail planning tools (Blue Yonder, Manhattan, Kinaxis)
- Exposure to Generative AI and intelligent automation
- Familiarity with TOGAF or enterprise architecture frameworks
- Experience with IoT, RFID, and store-level automation technologies
- Background in Agile, DevOps, and product-based delivery models
Work Model
- Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite in the Greater Toronto Area
- Up to 20% travel required
