Teaching Position (1.0 FTE)

CATHOLIC FAITH COORDINATOR Position to be based out of Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Fort Frances, Stratton or Atikokan

The Catholic Faith Coordinator is a system level position of leadership within the Board, providing a visible presences and witness to the spiritual and sacramental life of Catholic education. This position supports the building of Christ centred

communities across all schools and Board operations, ensuring that Catholic identity, faith formation and Gospel values are intentionally integrated into all aspects of the Board, including professional learning, promotion, classroom practices and supports the school, home, parish connections that Catholic Schools are centred in. District wide travel is required to

support schools, parishes and Board initiatives.

Working collaboratively with Superintendents, school administrators, system leads, clergy and parish partners, the Catholic Faith Coordinator provides leadership in Catholic Faith, Religious Education, Family Life Education, social justice and student pathway planning (K-8). This role supports the spiritual, academic and vocational discernment of students by

aligning pathway planning with Catholic Graduate Expectations, the Ministry document Creating Pathways for Success

and a clear emphasis on faith formation and vocation.

This position will commence on August 31, 2026.

Required Qualifications:

• Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing).

• Be a practicing Catholic who actively witnesses to the faith.

• Religious Education Specialist qualifications (or equivalent).

• Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably across more than one (1) division.

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to Catholic education and student faith formation.

• Effective communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively at both school and system levels.

• Have knowledge of Ontario curriculum, Catholic Graduate Expectations and student pathway planning (K-8).

• Experience in communications, faith leadership or system level coordination is considered an asset.

CATHOLIC FAITH COORDINATOR Title: Catholic Faith Coordinator

Position Duties: 1. Catholic Identity, Faith Formation and Christ centred Communities:

The Catholic Faith Coordinator supports the building of Christ centred communities at the school

and Board level by: a. Promoting the aims and objectives of Catholic education rooted in the Gospel.

b. Providing leadership and support for liturgies, prayer services, retreats and faith celebrations. c. Assisting principals and staff in planning and implementing liturgies, prayer services etc. for

the school and the system. d. Encouraging students and staff participation in ministries and service. e. Supporting parish-school relationships and collaboration with clergy.

f. Supporting spiritual growth and faith formation of students, staff, administrators, trustees

and Board leadership. g. At the request of the Tragic Events Response Team, providing pastoral presence and support

to school communities when required.

h. Providing opportunities for the faith formation and growth of trustees.

2. Student Pathway Planning (K-8):

The Catholic Faith Coordinator provides system level leadership for student pathway planning by: a. Leading the implementation of K-8 pathway planning aligned with Creating Pathways for

Success. b. Ensuring pathways planning reflects Catholic Graduate Expectations and a faith based

understanding of vocation, purpose and service.

c. Supporting schools in helping students recognize their God given gifts, strengths and interests.

d. Promoting pathways that emphasize faith formation, service, community involvement and

lifelong learning.

e. Collaborating with educators to integrate the pathway planning into curriculum, Religious

Education and Family Life Education. f. Supporting transitions within K-8 schooling through a Catholic lens of belonging, dignity and

hope.

g. Supporting Grade 7 and 8 classrooms with completing pathway portfolios in preparation for

transitions to secondary schools.

3. Religious Education and Family Life Education:

Supports the curriculum goals of the Religious Education and Family Life programs and the OCSTA/OECTA Religious Education additional qualifications program by:

a. Acting as a resource person for discussions of Catholic church issues as they affect the different subject areas (e.g. English, health).

b. Promoting and coordinating initiatives related to secondary education. c. Assisting with the implementation delivery and continuous improvements of Religious

Education and Family Life programs.

d. Assisting with the delivery and continuous improvements of Religious Education and Family Life programs.

e. Acting as a system resource on Catholic teaching and Church documents. f. Supporting teachers and administrators in addressing curriculum questions through a

Catholic world view. g. Supporting Religious Educational Additional Qualification initiatives, as appropriate.

4. Professional Development and Adult Faith Formation: Facilitates the development and implementation of professional learning related to Catholic schools and Catholic faith by:

a. Supporting the development and delivery of professional learning related to Catholic and

faith formation. b. Acting as a resource to Board and school based professional learning teams. c. Assisting the Director of Education and Superintendents in planning and facilitating system

level faith development. d. Supporting orientation for new staff related to Catholic identity and expectations.

5. Social Justice and Gospel Witness:

The Catholic Faith Coordinator promotes Catholic social teaching developing awareness of the responsibilities pertaining to social justice by: a. Developing awareness of the Gospel's call to justice, peace and stewardship of creation.

b. Promoting and developing awareness and supporting initiatives related to local and global

justice issues (e.g. famine, war, the ecology, etc.) as well as local social justice and peace. c. Encouraging the school community in responsibility to serve the community at large and to

be involved in issues of justice and peace.

d. Fostering respect for the dignity and uniqueness of every individual.

6. Communications and Community Engagement: The Catholic Faith Coordinator supports system level communications by:

a. Supporting the development and communication of promotional and public relations

initiatives related to Catholic education.

b. Supporting schools in communicating Catholic identity to families and communities. c. Liaising with the diocese, clergy, associations, rate payers and community organizations.

Other duties as assigned by the Supervisory Officer or Designate, consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.

Qualifications:

• Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing).

• Be a practicing Catholic who actively witnesses to the faith.

• Religious Education Specialist qualifications (or equivalent).

• Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably across more than one (1) division.
