Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Marsh. This role will be based in Halifax, Canada. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of multiple captive insurance companies and other client entities. Prepare accurate, timely financial statements, including all supplemental schedules and financial information required by each client.
We will count on you to:
Familiarize with international clients’ rules, regulations, and local accounting requirements to ensure compliant financial reporting.
Reconcile cash and investment accounts and prepare bank deposits and cash disbursements.
Plan and execute annual audits, including preparation of regulatory filings and GAAP financial statements.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance processes and procedures are followed for local accounting and financial reporting.
Maintain client files and documentation in accordance with regulations and best practices.
Develop and maintain relationships with clients and third‑party service providers, and correspond with other service providers as needed.
Prepare board and committee meeting materials and participate in the annual board of directors’ meeting and other client meetings.
Comply with Marsh and client‑specific internal controls and perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
What you need to have:
CPA designation or active CPA enrollment preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent required.
1+ years of relevant experience preparing financial statements, maintaining working paper files, and managing the general ledger.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail; able to excel in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and meet tight deadlines.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with all organizational levels and external clients; proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
What makes you stand out:
Experience with captive insurance entities and their operations.
1–2 years' experience working with or within insurance companies, familiar with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
Familiarity with U.S. insurance regulatory requirements.
