Practicum Administrator
Salary: $64,032 to $84,012 per year
Location: Slave Lake

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of social work
- Active registration with the Alberta College of Social Work (RSW) is required
- A candidate with a BSW in progress and active registration with the ACSW may be considered
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and in team environment
- Understanding of Addictions Counselling, Social Work, and Child and Youth Care programs
- Knowledge of external agencies and related programs to facilitate student placements
- A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Chair, Community Studies, the Practicum Administrator is responsible for providing planning, support, and monitoring of program student placement needs. Collaborating with the Coordinator, the incumbent will liaise with students and agencies to establish suitable practicum placements, ensuring required documentation and paperwork are completed. While other programs may be included from time to time, this position primarily supports the Addictions Counselling, Social Work, and Child and Youth Care Diploma programs. Competencies and tasks of the position will be consistent with the educational principles of the College, which focus on meeting the learning needs of students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Placement & Program Support
- Collaborate with the Program Chair and Coordinators to plan, advise, and monitor program needs related to student placements
- Maintain academic records
- Assist with ensuring students have the necessary resources to be successful
- Attend meetings as required
Practicum Placement Coordination
- Collaborate with the Chair, Coordinators, and Instructors to facilitate suitable and relevant practicum placements for students
- Research and recommend potential practicum placement sites and provide information to instructors, department chairs, coordinators, instructors, and students
- Consult with instructors to assign students with preceptors, as necessary
- Support the process of obtaining, updating, and acquiring student placement agreements
Maintain Accurate Student Records
- Record current, relevant student information
- Oversee and maintain a database of relevant student placement agencies
- Maintain up to date inventory of student information
- Compose written communication to students as needed
- Verify student records to confirm all College program and practicum placement requirements are met such as criminal record and vulnerable sector search, immunizations, First Aid and CPR certification, WCB coverage, etc.
