Your new role
As the Senior Planner Electrical, you will play a key role in supporting both electrical systems reliability and the site’s energy management program. Your focus will span electrical supply, distribution, system performance, andpliance, while driving continuous improvement and long‑term planning.Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical direction and support to the electrical team
- Supporting planners with developing and updating maintenance strategies and methods
- Liaising with utilities, regulatory bodies, and technical experts on shutdowns, energy supply, and project requirements
- Maintaining site power system modelling software (ETAP)
- Reviewing all new electrical equipment forpliance with applicable standards
- Updating AutoCAD drawings and maintaining electrical/instrumentation databases
- Managing the site energy management plan
- Developing long‑term electrical load planning requirements
- Leading the implementation of energy‑related projects
- Pursuing external funding and utility incentives for energy initiatives
- Updating the site energy management information system as required
- Ensuringpliance with federal and provincial regulations
- Following all corporate policies andpleting other duties as assigned
What you'll need to succeed
- Deep understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Strong knowledge of electrical principles including power distribution, LV/MV systems, PLCs, AC motors, and drives
- Knowledge of CSA Z462 (Workplace Electrical Safety) and CSA M421 (Use of Electricity in Mines)
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, RETScreen, SCADA (Wonderware), DCS (Foxboro), Schneider PME, and ITT Network systems
- Experience with Arc Flash studies and implementation
- Preferably 5–10 years of industrial electrical experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Strategic thinking andmercial awareness
- Effectivemunication skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings
