Coach Technician / Mechanic Lead Hand - Technical Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on motorcoaches and fleet vehiclesService engines, drivetrains, brakes, HVAC, electrical, and accessibility systemsEnsure all work meets regulatory, safety, and manufacturer standardsMaintain accurate service and repair documentationCoach Technician / Mechanic Lead Hand - Leadership & Coordination ResponsibilitiesLead and assign work to mechanics, apprentices, and wash bay staffSupport scheduling, workflow planning, and shop prioritiesMonitor work quality and provide hands-on coaching and mentorshipAssist with onboarding and training of new team membersCoach Technician / Mechanic Lead Hand - Systems & Reporting ResponsibilitiesManage work orders and ensure accurate tracking of labor, parts, and repairsUtilize telematics and fleet systems (e.g., Saucon, Samsara) to monitor vehicle healthMaintain data accuracy and compliance with company standardsCoach Technician / Mechanic Lead Hand - Operations & Communication ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Operations and Dispatch to support fleet availabilityReview DVIRs and prioritize repairs accordinglyCommunicate effectively with drivers to diagnose and resolve issuesEscalate recurring concerns to leadershipCoach Technician / Mechanic Lead Hand - Safety & Compliance ResponsibilitiesRespond to breakdowns and on-road service needs as requiredFollow all WHMIS, safety policies, and Canada Labour Code requirementsMaintain a clean, safe work environment and enforce PPE standardsPromote a strong safety-first culture across the teamTruck and Coach Technician (310T) Bus Mechanic Qualifications310T Mechanic License Valid Ontario Driver’s License, preferably CDLMust have strong communication/organizational skillsBasic computer skills are required and capability of using diagnostic software and toolsGood knowledge of geographic locationsMust be willing to participate in the company’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, including inclusion in the DOT-compliant testing pool, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirementsOur Commitment to Equity & SafetyWe maintain a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or unsafe behavior, and foster a workplace culture built on respect, integrity, and accountability.Equal Opportunity and Accessibility StatementCoach Canada is a federally regulated employer, and an equal opportunity employer committed to employment equity and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and accessible workplace.
