The Opportunity: CLC Summer Camp Lead (full-time, temporary)

Key Job Functions:
Program Development and Delivery
- Help to plan, organize, and lead daily camp programs and special activities, ensuring they run smoothly, follow the camp schedule, and support a positive and inclusive experience for all participants.
- Create engaging, age-appropriate activities for campers that promote learning, creativity, teamwork, and fun, while adapting plans as needed to accommodate varying interests and abilities.
- Coordinate and oversee field trips and special events, including arranging logistics, ensuring safety protocols are followed, communicating details to staff and families, and delivering well-organized experiences that enhance the overall camp program.
Camper Supervision and Safety
- Maintain the safety, supervision, and well-being of all campers throughout program hours by actively monitoring activities, responding promptly to concerns, and following all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful camp environment by modeling positive behavior, encouraging teamwork, and supporting campers in building confidence, friendships, and positive social skills.
Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication with parents/guardians, supervisors, and camp staff by sharing timely updates, addressing questions or concerns, and ensuring clarity around camper needs and program expectations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support successful program delivery, contributing ideas, assisting with problem-solving, and creating a cohesive and supportive team environment.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal partners and external organizations to enhance youth programming opportunities.
Program Promotion and Support
- Assist with marketing and promotional initiatives for summer camp programming by contributing to social media content, community outreach, or other engagement efforts that help increase awareness and participation.
- Support efforts to secure sponsorship opportunities for camp activities through research, outreach, and assistance with preparing materials that highlight program value and partnership benefits.
Operational Duties
- Participate in all required pre-camp training sessions to ensure proper understanding of safety procedures, programming standards, and operational expectations.
- Assist with program set-up, clean-up, and other operational tasks as required to ensure activity areas are organized, safe, and ready for camper use.
- Assist with general facility administration and operations as needed, including basic clerical tasks, supply organization, and helping maintain a clean and efficient camp environment.
Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Post-secondary education in Human Services, Education, Early Childhood Education, Recreation, or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, recreation, or program environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with children aged 7-12 yrs is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Demonstrate a strong dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity by actively seeking out and valuing diverse perspectives, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals of all backgrounds, and continuously striving to create a culture of respect and understanding
- Actively promote and reinforce practices that prioritize the well-being and security of all individuals at Olds College and show a proactive attitude towards safety measures, continuously striving to enhance safety protocols and instill a culture of shared responsibility and accountability when it comes to maintaining a safe and secure work setting
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Valid Intermediate First Aid with CPR/AED Level C certification
- Availability may be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed.
Conditions of Employment:
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
