Canadore College seeks an inaugural Executive Director of People and Culture. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, and serving as a member of the senior executive team, the Executive Director provides transformative leadership and strategic direction for the College’s People and Culture portfolio. The Executive Director of People and Culture will place people at the center of the institution’s success, leading a modern, inclusive approach to culture-building. Through a strategic focus on engagement, well-being, and organizational effectiveness, this role will drive efforts to strengthen workplace and campus culture, foster leadership development, and ensure Canadore remains an employer of choice through strategies to strengthen talent attraction and retention. By aligning people strategies with institutional priorities, the Executive Director will shape a dynamic and supportive environment where employees, students and communities, can thrive.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and collaborative leader with a demonstrated record of senior leadership in People and Culture within complex, unionized, and service-oriented environments. To be successful in the role, they will bring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a high degree of integrity, along with a demonstrated ability to build trust, foster engagement, and unite diverse teams around a shared vision. They will be an inspiring leader and strong mentor, with a passion for developing people and a deep understanding of how to grow and evolve a People and Culture portfolio in alignment with leading practices to meet the changing needs of the College and the broader community. They will be experienced in shaping and advancing people strategies that support organizational excellence, including talent development, workforce planning, and culture transformation. A proven ability to partner effectively across the organization is essential. The successful candidate will be an agile, forward-thinking leader, skilled at guiding organizations through change and committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and reconciliation.
