Job Description

The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing general electrical, pressure, temperature, dimensional, and physical calibration activities within the shop, lab, and field environments. The role focuses on ensuring precision and accuracy in calibration processes and involves a variety of testing and inspection tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform automated testing of electronic components or products, such as multimeters, calibrators, and thermometers.
• Calibrate devices by comparing measurements of pressure, voltage, weight, temperature, torque, and other conditions to known standards.
• Utilize tools such as Oscilloscopes, Power supplies, Multimeters, Clamp-meters, Logic Analyzers, Function generators, Spectrum Analyzers, LCR meters, and Counters.
• Adhere to precise specifications, processes, and procedures to calibrate electronic parts and instrumentation equipment.
• Conduct product inspections using instruments and test equipment to ensure compliance with production specifications and standards.
• Identify and resolve issues during inspections.
• Conduct functional tests and inspections of rental returns for proper operation and identify misuse, damage, or missing accessories.
• Review test data to identify defects or determine calculation requirements.
• Perform final calibration and quality control testing of completed electronic products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in electronics engineering technology or equivalent from a recognized Canadian postsecondary institution
• WHMIS (2015) safety certification
• Experience with quality management systems
• Experience towing trailers (mobile lab)
• Forklift license
• Experience with Met Cal software is a benefit

Work Environment

Work a typical day shift from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Travel to client sites more than 60 km away counts toward working hours. Employees working over 8 hours out of town and/or staying overnight receive a non-taxable per diem of $80 per day to cover food and travel costs. A standard workweek is 40 hours, adhering to Employment Standards' 8/44 rule for overtime payment.
