Summary
We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager, based out of our Toronto (Mississauga), ON, distribution center. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, relationship building and communication skills. Will be able to work with and motivate their team to meet operational and financial objectives in the logistics industry.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Maintains all warehousing and distribution operations by initiating operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Complies with federal, provincial and local warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements by enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguards warehouse operation and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
Controls inventory accuracy by conducting physical counts; reconciling with WMS. - Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
Manages warehouse staff by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results. - Ability to interact and build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent organizing, prioritizing, multi-tasking, product management and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency.
- A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem solving.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment.
- Maintains good attendance. Schedules time off in advance to minimize negative impact on the operation.
- Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to drive operational performance at the site level with a particular focus on productivity, quality, and cost.
Some additional responsibilities:
- Fulfill DC Directors’ duties in the Directors’ absence.
- Be available to cover the different shifts as necessary during a supervisors’ absence.
- Be available in work locations to assist as needed and resolve issues as required.
- Regularly communicate with the facility management on issues that arise and be able to react as required.
- Maintains physical condition of the Configuration Centre by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Completes Configuration Centre operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
- Manages Configuration Centre staff by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
- Regularly conduct Customer/Vendor facing tours to support the business and be able to react as required.
- May operate motorized equipment (pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.)
- Other related duties as assigned.

5-10 years in a Leadership capacity with experience in:
- Safety Management
- Developing Standards
- Managing Processes
- Inventory Control
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Customer Relations
- Reporting Skills
- Knowledge of WMS and LMS systems
- Knowledge of LEAN processes
- Knowledge of 3PL (preferred)
- Knowledge of Configuration Centre (preferred)
