Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician – Plumbing is responsible for performing plumbing-focused maintenance and repairs to ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. This role also supports general preventative maintenance activities to preserve the physical condition and functionality of residential properties.
The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on plumbing experience, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship and resident service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead all plumbing maintenance and repairs across residential and related commercial/common-area spaces, including troubleshooting, repairs, and installations
- Respond to service requests with a primary focus on plumbing systems (fixtures, drains, piping, leaks, backups)
- Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing systems to reduce emergencies and downtime
- Support general maintenance as needed, including minor carpentry, painting, and basic electrical work
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including boiler room logs, documenting work completed, time spent, and materials used
- Inspect and repair building systems and fixtures with particular focus on plumbing-related components (drainage, water supply, gutters)
- Complete daily preventative checks in key areas, including boiler rooms, garbage chutes, storage areas, and secured entry points
- Ensure all work orders are completed efficiently and to standard, communicating progress and updates to the Property Manager
- Order and track materials, ensuring accurate documentation and cost allocation
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies, with priority focus on plumbing-related issues
- Support larger projects and coordinate with external vendors as required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- License required.
- Relevant experience in residential and/or multi-unit plumbing environments
- Red Seal certification or Ontario 306A required
- Strong troubleshooting skills in occupied, multi-unit buildings
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, applicable codes, and safety standards
- Plumbing certification, apprenticeship training, or equivalent hands-on experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently with a customer-focused, service-oriented approach
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including lifting, bending, standing, and working in mechanical spaces
- Demonstrates a professional, respectful, and calm demeanor when interacting with residents, tenants, and team members
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
