Overview
As an Inventory Process Improvement Student, you will contribute to a critical initiative focused on improving the end‑to‑end flow of raw materials from the warehouse to the Points of Use (PoU) on the shop floor. You will analyze how materials are delivered, handled, consumed, and reported prior to consumption during production orders confirmation. Your work will involve detailed process mapping, data analysis, and identifying gaps between physical handling practices and SAP transactions. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Production, Engineering, Warehouse, Scheduling and Operational Procurement, to develop recommendations that improve inventory accuracy, reduce discrepancies, and strengthen material‑flow reliability. This role offers meaningful exposure to real manufacturing operations, SAP, continuous improvement methodologies, and cross‑functional problem solving.
Your Tasks
- Conduct a full assessment and mapping of the current material flow from warehouse delivery to PoU consumption.
- Document how materials are physically handled, stored, and used, and compare these practices to SAP backflush and consumption logic.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or failure points in the physical vs. system material‑flow process.
- Support root‑cause analysis of inventory discrepancies, including lost, damaged, or unreported materials.
- Prepare a complete process map of the “as‑is” state and recommendations for an optimized “to‑be” state.
- Assist in aligning physical material movements with SAP transactions and inventory‑control best practices.
- Contribute to standardizing work instructions and updating SOPs for PoU material handling.
- Participate in cross‑functional meetings and present findings to stakeholders.
- Support data validation activities, including BOM accuracy checks in coordination with Engineering for required updates.
- Track relevant KPIs such as PoU stock accuracy (Deviations), discrepancy trends, and cycle‑count findings.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Logistics or a related program.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Interest in inventory management, manufacturing processes, and process improvement.
- Basic Excel skills required; Power BI or data analytics capabilities are an asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
- Detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
We offer
- The opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of optical current measurement technology and sustainable energy transmission in an innovative company
- You will work in a motivated team on forward‑looking projects and gain insights into the latest technologies
- Support from experienced professionals in handling the latest measurement technology
- An hourly rate of pay of CAD $24 - $26.
