We are seeking an Extrusion Press Operator (6 months night and 6 months day shift schedule) on a full-time permanent basis to join the Vaughan location/team. The Extruder Operator is responsible for the hands on safe operation of equipment. The operator follows standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure the productivity and quality of production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be proficient at operating equipment and meeting targets set by company.
- Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Maintain tools and supplies in good working order.
- Maintain work area in a clean state and free from obstructions (6S).
- Assists in trouble shooting and continuous improvement. Reports equipment and tooling conditions, operating and maintenance recommendations to ensure safe and efficient operating state.
- Open communication with teams and internal departments to ensure production and inventory levels are accurate and advise of any issues that may impact quality, timing or safety.
- Opens and completes work orders, documents production, and performs quality inspections.
- Upgrade tooling and trouble shoot production issues pertaining to dies set ups and colour changes.
- Report non-conformance of all production.
- Meets or exceeds cycle times per work orders.
- Understanding and operating company’s scanning wedge program.
- Perform daily maintenance check sheet and set up sheets.
- Perform best practice during die set up and change over.
- Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions are being followed at all times
- Ensure the Company’s quality policies and procedures are strictly adhered to
- Perform quality inspections and meet standards.
- Maintain all measuring equipment, inspection fixtures and visual aids.
- Promote safe work practices as outlined in the Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Strive for Zero-time lost accidents
- Adhere to all company safety SOP and equipment safety features
- Cross Training in material handling and part packaging as required and participate in training as required by company or Lead Hand
- Including but not limited to other duties required by Lead Hand or Plant Manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience as an Extrusion Press Operator
- 2+ years of experience with die removal, saw set up, and grinder operations.
- 2+ years of experience with extrusion operations adjustments
- 2+ years of experience in performing and supervising set up of all production equipment and operation of machinery
- Accurately inspect tooling using applicable tools and measuring devices and troubleshoot effectively.
- Ability to run each profile according to specs and costing.
- Quality cross-training and 6s training.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and basic math skills.
HOURS:
- 6 months nights and then 6 months days, however, training, it will be 2-3 weeks day shift
- Day shift is 6:30 am to 7 pm Monday to Wednesday and the night shift is 6:30 pm to 7:00 am Monday to Wednesday
