Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team!
What you'll do here:
Design and develop end-to-end AI solutions for real business cases with a product mindset and measurable impact.
Lead AI projects across exploration, implementation, testing, and monitoring, de-risking ambiguous problem spaces.
Translate complex, unstructured data into actionable insights; define hypotheses, success metrics, and iterate based on results.
Partner with stakeholders to understand needs and convert them into scalable technical solutions.
Collaborate with data scientists, business SMEs, developers, designers, in a cross-functional team to build AI solutions in AWS.
Act as a technical lead and reference for data science team.
Use analytics to understand software usage patterns and give recommendations on improvements
Coach and mentor junior members of the team.
Lead and enforce data science best practices: coding, peer-review, experimentation and testing.
What you bring to the table:
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (computer science, mathematics, AI, engineering, or a related field), or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
At least 5 years of experience in data science applications and product development, with a strong focus on NLP and machine learning.
Strong communication, leadership, mentorship, and AI project management skills; proven experience guiding junior team members and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), integrating with APIs, evaluation techniques, prompt engineering, and applying agentic system patterns (planning, tool-use/function calling, orchestration, and guardrails).
Experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining software in cloud environments (strong preference for AWS); familiarity with building reliable LLM/NLP pipelines in production.
Multi-platform production experience with the following: Python, GitHub, AWS, and CI/CD tools.
Expert-level understanding of the underlying theory of machine learning and modern NLP/LLM techniques.
Demonstrated ability to structure and execute work in ambiguous problem spaces, defining hypotheses, success metrics, and iterating toward outcomes.
Product mindset with a track record of translating insights into user and business impact; proactive self-starter who identifies opportunities and takes initiative end-to-end.
Ability to collaborate with others and to coach junior members of staff; strong stakeholder communication across diverse backgrounds.
Enthusiasm for teamwork and ability to communicate with colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
