Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant to the Dean, Community Wellness (ADCW) is primarily responsible for the development and delivery of health education programs and initiatives, providing one-on-one student support and case management, and facilitating training and professional development opportunities for students, staff, and faculty at the College.

The ADCW is responsible for developing and implementing health-related educational programs and initiatives, including the identification of learning outcomes, pedagogical techniques, and evaluation methods.

The incumbent collaborates with otherstudent support staff at the College and elsewhere at the University to ensure that students are holistically supported and equipped to thrive. They provide ongoing student support, make timely and informed referrals, and develop wellness curriculum for the student community in response to trends, as needed.

The ADCW works closely with the Dean to inform key priorities and objectives. They are responsible for developing assessment tools, conducting detailed analyses, preparing reports, and communicating information to internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising professional and student-staff.

Although most work is conducted during regular business hours, evening and weekend work is sometimes required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing new programs and initiatives independently
  • Developing student assessment plans to support student learning outcomes and competencies
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of student feedback and learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Developing content for instructional workshops
  • Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of case support work in the field of mental health, with a minimum of three years working with youth and/or post secondary population.
  • Thorough understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion, especially as they relate to student health & well-being, and academic success.
  • Experience in the development, delivery, and assessment of health-related educational programs and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals in crisis and/or experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
  • Demonstrated success building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic significance.
  • Thorough understanding of wellness-related resources and supports available to students on campus and in the community.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to make quick, sound judgments under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience working with student leaders, clubs, and organizations.
  • Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment; demonstrated experience taking a leadership and coaching role within teams.
  • Excellent time management and organization.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).


Assets (Nonessential):
