Process Operator (Industrial Gas / Refrigerant Process Operator)

What You Bring to the Table:
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift, plus possible overtime in a manufacturing, chemical plant, or industrial gas facility
- Physical ability to independently move/lift 50 lbs. and work in industrial, plant, or warehouse environments
- Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude (critical for process operations, pressure systems, and distillation processes)
- Experience with pumps, hoses, compressors, valves, and preventative maintenance programs (PMs)
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and OHSA compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and tracking production data
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, industrial gas, or refrigerant industries
- Experience handling compressed gases, specialty gases, refrigerants, or hazardous materials
- Experience with chemical blending, gas blending, refrigerant recovery, and transfer processes
- Understanding of distillation columns, separation processes, and chemical processing systems
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Day-To-Day:
Our Process Operator (Industrial Gas / Refrigerant Process Operator) works under the direction of our Operations Supervisor to perform timely, high-quality work. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain safe operation of the distillation tower by managing the production of blends, chemical transfers, and bulk cylinders movement
- Assist with the daily monitoring of the separation towers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of site operations
- Operate and monitor industrial gas processing equipment and refrigerant recovery systems
- Report any faults, site, and maintenance issues to Maintenance to ensure site safety and product quality
- Assist with monitoring of plant equipment to ensure efficient operations
- Perform gas sampling, gas chromatography testing, and quality control checks
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, refrigerants, and compressed gases
- Handle high and low pressure gas cylinders and chemical transfers and monitor samples
- Report equipment issues and support preventative maintenance
- Demonstrate the ability to be a safety leader by fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring a safe work environment with a commitment to zero injuries, emissions, and leaks
- Must safely operate a manual power jack
- Understands hazards of various gases, sizes, and contents of cylinders by reading safety data sheets and cylinder labels
- Ensures that processed product meets established regulatory, customer, and A-Gas internal requirements and specifications
- Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Follows quality protocol concerning required documentation of verifications and the documentation, notification, and handling of non-conformities
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping
- Maintain RSI safety programs and adhere to Nova Scotia OHSA regulations
- Any other tasks, as required
