Position Specifics: Full time career opportunity with a large, reputable and stable manufacturing company, with multiple sites internationally. This role is located at the Corporate Head Office, in the North York area and is a replacement role.
Hybrid Remote Option: After six (6) month of continuous employment, will be provided the option to work three (3) days in the office and two (2) days from home. (Negotiable)
Compensation: $80-100K + benefits (health/medical/dental) + RRSP/DPSP contribution plan + 2/3 weeks vacation
Travel Requirements: May be some travel between various sites within the organization in Ontario & Michigan – must possess valid passport and have ability to cross border without restriction. Must possess a Canadian Passport or US VISA.
Job Description:
This position is a key level 3 support role and escalation point for the IT team. Tier 3 must comfortably work across multiple layers of the stack—networking, server, cloud, security, applications, and automation.
The Tier 3 IT Technician is a senior technical escalation point responsible for solving the most complex infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, and IT/OT issues across the multiple sites. This role acts as a subject-matter expert for enterprise systems, ensures operational continuity, contributes to architectural decisions, and provides technical leadership to Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff. They operate proactively, reducing incidents, improving reliability, and executing changes with precision and adherence to SOPs. The ideal candidate will have inherent leadership skills as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills.
The Systems and Network Admin is also responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of duties and responsibilities as outlined below in accordance with cultural priorities. The duties and responsibilities listed below are not meant to be all-encompassing. As business needs change, this list may be adapted. It is expected that the incumbent will participate in meetings, on teams and projects to collectively achieve our priorities.
- Work on projects as assigned and be responsible for meeting project requirements and deadlines
- Familiarize with IT/OT communication paths, PLC interfaces, and MES integration logic
- Collaborate and support other team members to identify and develop scalable server/network designs, solutions and policy recommendations to support a growing infrastructure
- Monitor and administer virtual servers, SAN and network equipment
- Backup and restore critical data and systems
- Monitor and resolve all hardware and software issues and configure all new systems and perform tests on all deployment projects
- Manage routine changes, provision services, deployments, fault isolation, service recovery, and incident analysis
- Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, virtualization competency with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python optional).
- Experience with SIEM/EDR technologies and enterprise security tooling• Capacity and performance planning, overseeing software upgrades on virtual production platforms
- Review server/network characteristics and recommend procurement of, and/or modifications to server/network components
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues; identify root cause of network performance problems; take proactive measures to reduce impact and risk of reoccurrence
- Research, develop, and implement IT standards, best practices, and operational procedures – maintaining documentation concerning company infrastructure – server and network
- Monitor the security protocols and identify areas where there are gaps in the existing security policies of the enterprise and recommend resolution
- Participate with vendors in the assessment of new enterprise technology
- Maintain documentation concerning company infrastructure – systems, servers and networks
- Work closely with the Service Desk, IT Operations, Programming and ERP teams to establish alignment and to determine technology needs and direction
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology (IT) or equivalent
- Five (5)+ years of experience as a Network and Systems Administrator or equivalent preferred
- Experience with Azure Online / Office 365 is a major asset.
- Exceptional communication—able to distill complex issues for non-technical stakeholders
- Manufacturing/Automotive sector experience is an asset
- Certification in MCSA or equivalent certification is an asset
- Strong understanding of ITIL, SRE principles, and incident/change management
- Strong understanding of VMWare vSphere/vCenter networking, High-Availability and scalable network service deployment
- Knowledge of windows services and roles such as DHCP, DNS, RDP, IIS, DFS and NTP
- Strong understanding of network protocols
- Strong understanding of network design best practices and experience with the preparation of system administration and operational documentation
- Practical experience in configuring and supporting Cisco Catalyst switches
- Hands on experience in configuring and supporting Wi-Fi mesh networks (Meraki)
- Experience with VOIP phone systems
- Working experience with SharePoint
- Experience in managing MS SQL databases an asset
- Azure/AWS experience
- Experience with On-Prem to Cloud services migrations
- Must have an analytical mindset with ability to predict operational impact with the ability to organize priorities to handle multiple and sometimes competing commitments
- Comfortable working with and presenting to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels within the organization
- Ability to periodically travel to the various locations in Ontario and the one (1) location in Michigan
