Job Summary:
The
Risk Analyst will support financial crime investigations by conducting
risk assessments, case analysis, and evidence gathering across AML, sanctions, and fraud-related activities. This role involves working closely with internal teams to identify suspicious patterns, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to effective risk mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct adjudications, analysis, risk assessments, and investigations of general queue cases, including recommendations for account actions.
- Provide analysis and data/evidence gathering support for moderately to highly complex investigations, including AML, Sanctions/ABAC, and financial crime cases.
- Prioritize incoming investigation requests and manage case workloads effectively.
- Conduct thorough analysis, risk assessment, and investigation of assigned cases.
- Perform research and apply methodologies for analyzing digital evidence to reduce risk exposure.
- Support preparation for reviews and interviews related to financial crime cases, ensuring proper documentation.
- Collect, preserve, and analyze digital evidence using sound methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal partners and external parties for effective investigation outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver AML, sanctions, and fraud-related training or seminars internally.
- Maintain awareness of emerging AML trends, cyber technologies, and criminal techniques.
- Apply knowledge of banking procedures, products, and systems to support investigations and case preparation.
- Lead small project workstreams and contribute to process improvements.
- Maintain confidentiality and escalate high-risk issues appropriately.
- Conduct reporting and analysis to support decision-making and program effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and risk management frameworks.
- Participate in team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous development activities.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, or a related discipline.
- – years of experience in risk analysis, investigations, or banking environment.
- Experience with investigations, identifying trends and patterns, and risk management.
- Experience filing Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs).
- Strong knowledge of FINTRAC regulations.
- Banking industry experience.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Knowledge of RGS, KYT, and KYC frameworks.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Advanced degree in a mathematical or financial discipline.
- ACAMS certification or equivalent experience.
- Experience with financial crime investigations in AML/ATF/ABAC environments.
