As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Automation & Robotics Controls Manager to join our team and lead the design, development, and implementation of automated control systems and robotics solutions.

Position Overview :

The Automation & Robotics Controls Manager will play a critical role in overseeing our automation, controls, programming, and robotics teams.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in both automation controls and robotics, along with strong leadership and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and manage a team of automation engineers, controls specialists, programmers, and robotics experts, fostering a positive and high-performance culture.
  • System Design & Integration : Oversee the design, programming, and integration of automation control systems, robotic systems (e.

g., multi-axis robots, cobots), PLCs, and HMIs.

  • Project Management : Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality automation solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with mechanical engineering, software development, and other departments to integrate automation and robotic systems effectively.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting : Provide hands-on support for troubleshooting, testing, and adjusting automated systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Client Engagement : Directly engage with clients to understand their needs, provide technical support, and ensure successful implementation of automation systems.
  • Continuous Improvement : Evaluate and optimize automation processes, methodologies, and team performance, staying at the forefront of industry advancements (e.g., Industry 4.0).
  • Safety & Compliance : Ensure all automation and robotic systems comply with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., CE marking, CSA, ISO 13849) and company policies.
  • Onboarding & Training : Assist with the onboarding and training of new staff, providing continuous technical mentorship and fostering a knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Standards & Documentation : Develop and implement standards, guidelines, and best practices for automation and robotics, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Requirements :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience : 7+ years in automation, controls engineering, and robotics, with at least 4 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Proficient in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA), and motion control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with robot integration, multi-axis robotic arms, and vision systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet / IP, ProfiNet) and safety standards.
  • Leadership Skills : Strong project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Problem Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges and provide effective solutions.
  • Travel : Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site installations and project support.
