As a Senior Data Analyst in Enterprise Data and Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in this transformation. You’ll lead key activities analyzing complex scientific datasets, map key business processes, conduct deep dive analyses and create insight-driven solutions. The Enterprise Data & Analytics team is at the forefront of transformative work, driving innovation through data across the organization. Our mission is to enable smarter decision-making by deeply understanding the scientific business processes that support non-clinical research studies.

In this role, primary responsibilities include:

• Engage Business Stakeholders at all levels to identify requirements for current and future products through ongoing interaction;
• Analyze complex datasets using SQL Server to identify patterns, detect anomalies, and uncover embedded business rules;
• Lead requirements workshops and User Acceptance Testing for new data, products and analytics solutions;
• Analyze business processes and develop business flow diagrams and data flow diagrams to support system design and optimization;
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery;
• Create compelling visualizations and dashboards to communicate key insights and trends;
• Data Profiling, mining, and data validation/testing to ensure data is fit for use by the business;
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear and user-friendly manner;
• Build strong business relationships that foster a collaborative and trusting approach and partnership;
• Act as scrum master for the team and prepare detailed stories for developers.

Key Elements

We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role:

• Bachelor degree in Business Management, Computer Science or any related field.
• Master in Business Administration/ Information Systems/ Computer Science is an asset.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to approach challenges creatively.
• Ability to translate requirements to well-written user stories to bridge the gap between business and technology.
• Strong business mindset with ability to collaborate with business partners to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
• Ability to see big picture and then identify key areas for deep analysis to support sound solutions.
• Self-driven and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Experience in life science or Biotechnology industry is a plus.

Technical Expertise required:

• 5+ years’ experience in writing complex SQL queries, data mining, data profiling, and data validation/testing;
• 5+ years’ experience as a Business Systems Analyst / Data Analyst specializing in the Data & Analytics discipline, preferably in a senior or lead role;
• 5+ years’ experience organizing and running User Acceptance Testing cycles and training with business users and stakeholders;
• Experience working with Data Visualization Tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, MicroStrategy
• Experienced working in Agile Software Development Methodology.

Role Specific Information:

• Location: Remote (Must be located in Canada);
• Annual bonus based on performance;
• Schedule: Daytime between Monday and Friday;
• Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week.

About Safety Assessment
Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance. From individual specialty toxicology and IND enabling studies to tailored packages and total laboratory support, our deeply experienced team can design and execute programs that anticipate challenges and avoid roadblocks for a smooth, efficient journey to market. Each year approximately 300 investigational new drug (IND) programs are conducted in our Safety Assessment facilities.
