Heavy Duty Mechanic

We are seeking a versatile and proactive Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join a leading equipment solutions provider in the Timmins region. This role is ideal for a mechanic who enjoys variety—one day you might be diagnosing a hydraulic issue on a 20-ton excavator, and the next, you’ll be performing preventative maintenance on a fleet of aerial boom lifts.

Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance: Inspect, service, and repair a wide range of equipment, including earth-moving machinery, compaction tools, and aerial platforms (telehandlers, scissor lifts, and forklifts).
Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions using modern diagnostic software and traditional hands-on techniques.
Performance Testing: Conduct thorough post-repair testing to ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Documentation: Maintain precise digital and paper records of inspections, work orders, and parts used to ensure fleet transparency.
Safety First: Adhere strictly to provincial health and safety regulations and internal shop safety protocols.

Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience specifically working on construction or heavy industrial equipment.
Licensing: A 421A (Heavy Equipment) or 310T (Truck & Coach) license is highly preferred; however, we will consider highly skilled unlicensed candidates with equivalent experience.
Driver’s License: Valid Class G license with a clean driver’s abstract (max 3 demerit points).
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic pumps/motors, and electrical systems.
Computer Literacy: Comfortable using tablets or laptops for diagnostic tools and reporting.
Tools: Must possess a comprehensive personal toolset (or be actively building one).
Aptitude: A "self-starter" mentality with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
