JOB SUMMARY
Cultural and Heritage Programs is responsible for multi-disciplinary arts centres, heritage and museum facilities and structures, the delivery of arts, heritage and museum public programming and events, volunteer program development, audience development, and exhibits and research.
Using the principles of matrix management, you are responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of programming and operations of cultural programs, facilities and galleries, events, cultural centre rentals, arts and heritage sales, and customer service centre within the Cultural and Heritage Services branch and various satellite locations. This includes developing/amending program goals/priorities and operational planning functions.
You: implement, monitor and supervise financial resources including the negotiation of contracts and agreements, and purchase of services; conduct staff hiring, orientation, training, and development and performance appraisals; are expected to work with community partners and develop linkages with other city staff in order to support the integration of services and programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 4 year university degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or Arts Administration, or directly related field
Minimum of 3 years of full-time supervisory experience working in the visual and /or performing arts and/or museums or heritage services in a recreation and culture environment Prior demonstrated experience designing and developing programs to meet targeted or general community needs
Program development experience (cultural, visual and performing arts, and/or heritage) is desirable
Experience in community development, arts event planning & development, contract negotiations, staff supervision and training is desirable
Budget accountability is desirable
Demonstrated strong customer services initiatives is desirable
