Position Overview
The Clinical and Fitness Support Specialist reports to the Manager of Clinical Operations and plays a central role in coordinating key chronic disease programs, as well as associated assessment and testing services (DEXA, RMR, VO₂max). They work closely with the manager to develop new and innovative clinical services and programs, and to review and update existing programs to ensure they remain effective, evidence-informed, and aligned with organizational priorities.
In addition, the role collaborates with the Health & Fitness team to support program development, staff training, research integration, and quality assurance processes. This position promotes high standards of evidence-informed practice, participant-centered care, and innovative program delivery across both clinical and health & fitness initiatives.
Experience
- 4 years’ experience in a health-related setting.
- Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, standards, protocols and/or frameworks.
- Experience in coordinating entry level positions.
- Experience in reviewing core messaging/content created by health or fitness personnel.
- Experience in and knowledge of principles and techniques of research and analysis, with the ability to apply to program and policy evaluation preferred.
- Developed and coordinated clinical and fitness programs, including chronic disease management initiatives.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary degree in health related, kinesiology or health sciences field required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Current CSEP-CEP or ACSM-CEP certification in good standing.

- Supported program budget tracking and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of funds.
- Contributed to program enhancement initiatives focused on quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Assisted with research coordination and interdisciplinary projects.
- Provided staff training and mentorship to promote evidence-based practice.

- Strong knowledge of evidence-based clinical exercise practices and chronic disease management.
- Expertise in clinical assessment and testing protocols, including DEXA, RMR, and VO₂max.
- Proficiency in program design, implementation, and evaluation using evidence-based approaches.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of clinical care and fitness trends, issues and strategies preferred.
- Knowledge of chronic disease trends, issues and strategies preferred.
