The M’Chigeeng Wellness Centre is a senior living facility for independent individuals who require minimal assistance. At the Wellness Centre and in the community, we provide services to individuals who require additional home supports, such as daily exercise, hygiene care, meal preparation, wellness checks and light housekeeping.
The Personal Support Worker will work under the direction of the Home Care Program Manager.
The Personal Support Worker will provide support services and personal care (depending on scheduled shifts) to the clients in their daily living activities within the Home Care Program and in the community of M’Chigeeng.
To assist clients with personal care as assigned by immediate supervisor or designate such as:
Preferred
Personal Support Worker Certificate with a minimum of two (2) years related work experience
Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to own transportation is an asset
Minimum
Health Care Aide Certificate with two (2) years related work experience
Other
Must have current First Aid/CPR Certification,
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Able to work shift work and flexible hours
Experience working with the elderly is an asset
Ability to work within a team environment
Knowledge of the Ojibwe culture and traditions; fluency in the Ojibwe language is an asset
Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within 30 days, original or certified copy)
M’Chigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Applicants must provide a clear VSS Certificate and/or dated of any convictions relating to sexual interference, sexual assault or related charges. The VSS must be current (30 days) and must be an original.
