Job Description
This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the warehouse including shipping, receiving, storage management, maintenance following written or verbal work instructions under the direction of the Branch Manager/Operations Manager. Assist with coordination for facilities maintenance including responding to urgent repairs requiring electrical, plumbing, HVAC via established external contractors.
- Receive, inspect, sort, and label inbound material. Distribute received material to identified departments/personnel or warehouse location. Report any discrepancies to the operations groups.
- Operate a forklift, truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods. (Certification provided)
- Handle dangerous goods (Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate/training to be provided). Manage shipping, storage, and destruction activities with authorized suppliers
- Maintenance, organization, and cleaning of the warehouse. Maintain a clean working environment.
- Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- May be assigned special or ad hoc projects.
- Undertake light maintenance and housekeeping duties in warehouse. Mopping up spills ensuring access areas are clean from dust and debris ensuring equipment is maintained clean and in good repair.
- Maintain warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, mechanical broom), including weekly cleaning, and ensure all required maintenance schedules are followed
- Insure daily safety inspections are undertaken on forklift and mechanical broom /vacuum units
- Assists Site Manager/Operations Manager with organizing scheduled maintenance of facility, retaining external trade contractors to perform repairs, supervise and workmanship of contractors
- Organize shipments with FedEx, Purolator, DHL, Manitoulin, and Morneau
- Maintain inventories and shipping/receiving systems up to date. Plan the storage of pallets, samples, and equipment in both on‑site and outsourced facilities (Entrepôt IDEAL). Maintain accurate storage records and coordinate all shipments and receipts from Outsourced facilities.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- Previous experience in a related field would be a strong asset.
- Forklift license or previous experience with forklifts
Specific technical skills:
- Forklift license or previous experience.
- Have 1-year experience with scheduling external contractors and have base level knowledge of facility management.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.).
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with others & independently.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Works well under pressure.
- Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
