Job description

Join us in shaping Canada’s sustainable energy future The Pembina Institute is seeking two Analysts to join our team based out of any one of our five offices (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa).

Join a dedicated team advancing Canada’s sustainable energy future, supporting research, analysis, writing, and policy advocacy across the Oil and Gas or Customer Energy Solutions program teams.

These roles are open to internal and external candidates.

Who we are At the Pembina Institute, it’s all hands on deck and it has been for the last 40 years. Our 50+ person team, distributed across the country, are passionate and dedicated, but we don't sweat the small stuff.

We’re too busy tackling one of the most important issues of our time: Canada’s clean energy transition.

In that transition, we don’t leave anyone behind and believe each member of our team plays a critical role in achieving our goals.

We ensure equity but promote individuality.

We lead with curiosity — challenging our own ideas and limiting beliefs, being open to diversity of thought and opinion.

We use evidence-based thinking to inform our recommendations to decision-makers and understand that to make long-lasting changes, we need to take a practical approach when collaborating with others. Our commitment to responsible development, and our “tough, but fair” approach, using research, consulting and convening, gives us credibility with decision makers whose actions today are setting the direction for the planet.

Are you ready to join us?

Meet the team The Oil and Gas team works to decarbonize Canada’s oil and gas sector while supporting the development of competitive, low-carbon industries critical to the energy transition.

The Customer Energy Solutions team advances a reliable, affordable, and low-carbon electricity system by supporting utility policies, regulation and market solutions that enable growing demand and scaling demand-side resources.

The opportunity Working closely with a small group of subject matter experts, you’ll provide research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, writing and policy advocacy support to your program team.

These positions report to the director of the policy team.

Your key responsibilities Support projects from initiation to completion, ensuring projects align with organizational objectives, meet budgets, and contribute to the Pembina Institute’s reputation.

Produce high-quality resources including primers, reports, presentations, webinars, briefing notes, and summaries of industry news and trends. Research and conduct technical, quantitative, and qualitative analysis.

Synthesize research and analysis to inform the development of policy positions and recommendations. Provide the communications team with materials and content for external channels such as social media or newsletters. Implement components of the program strategy to build community, increase awareness, and provide effective educational tools and support.

Maintain constructive relationships with external stakeholders, including representing the Pembina Institute in internal and, as required, external meetings.

Assist with securing additional funding through proposal development.

  • What we’re looking for You are self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to take initiative.

You bring strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and synthesize both quantitative and qualitative data.

You are organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable using tools to support data management and collaboration.

What you bring Minimum of an undergraduate degree in business, economics, law, public policy, climate science, engineering, or a related field.

A combination of work experience and education may be considered.

Minimum of one year of related work experience in a professional environment, such as industry, government, utility or the not-for-profit sector.

Prior experience with climate economics or similar economic analysis is highly valuable. Prior experience in corporate sustainability, climate tech, energy development, or within sectors such as oil and gas or electric utilities is considered an asset.

Compensation and benefits The hiring range for the position is $64, 500 to $71,500 annually based on a 37.5-hour work week , with a range maximum of $78,250.

Within this range, individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, related experience, education and/or training, and internal equity.

We know that to meet these ambitious goals, our people are the core .

We also know that one size does not fit all, therefore we offer employees a flexible office and home schedule that allows individuals to find an optimal balance.

Our employees receive a generous paid time-off package starting with four weeks of vacation, time to cover health and wellness, professional development and offices closed annually from December 25 to January 1.

In addition, we offer RRSP matching, parenthood top-ups, extended health and dental benefits, and yearly development funds.

Note: the incentive programs have certain eligibility requirements and may be subject to employment type.

To apply Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m.

MDT on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The Pembina Institute is committed to an inclusive and accessible hiring process that values diversity and respect.

We aim to create a work environment where everyone can contribute their best and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
