We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Production Assistant to join our team! In this role, you will contribute to meaningful, accessibility-focused work by helping produce documents in a variety of alternate formats. No prior experience is required—comprehensive training will be provided.
This role is a great opportunity to be part of a team focused on delivering high-quality, accessible content. Working under the direction of the Production Manager, you’ll support daily production operations to ensure all work meets client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and quality standards. Your primary focus will be completing day-to-day production activities, including producing, packaging and shipping documents in alternative formats such as braille, large print, audio, and e-text. Along the way, you’ll follow client-specific requirements, maintain compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards, and help identify and communicate any production issues. You’ll also play a role in supporting quality control processes, assisting with training new team members, and helping maintain documentation and procedures. This hands-on role offers the chance to learn and grow while contributing to meaningful, accessibility-focused work in a supportive team environment.
MUST work in the Brampton, ON office!
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all aspects of day-to-day production activities as directed to meet client SLAs and quality requirements
- Produce documents in alternate formats including braille, large print, audio, e-text, and DAISY
- Perform manual transcription with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain and adhere to client-specific production preferences and specifications
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards as they apply to production
- Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate production errors or failures in a timely manner
- Follow and support all quality control procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality output
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new staff as needed
- Participate in maintaining and updating training manuals, log records, and standard operating procedures
- Assist with routine maintenance and documentation of facility equipment
- Stay current with alternate format rules, accessibility guidelines, and industry standards, including those established by Crawford Technologies
- Develop familiarity with basic braille characters to support quality checks
SKILLS
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Self-directed, with the ability to effectively plan your own activities to achieve customer SLA’s.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Able to meet fixed deadlines.
- Excellent computer application skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Willing to travel to the U.S. location for training (as required)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- An understanding of the alternate format rules and guidelines for producing Accessible PDF, Accessible Office documents, Braille, Large Print, Audio, e-Text and Daisy.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & BENEFITS
EXPERIENCE
- Work experience in an area requiring high attention to detail.
- Experience using the Microsoft Office products.
- Previous customer management.
- Previous experience with packaging and shipping is a plus.
- Previous experience with desktop publishing is a plus.
- Previous experience with document accessibility is a plus.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED is required.
