Job description

PRODUCTION DIRECTOR, XM (CANADA)

Community isn’t just a marketing agency — we’re a movement.

We deliver ideas that disrupt, strategies that ignite, and experiences that demand attention.

Fueled by creativity and audacity, we transform brands into cultural trailblazers by showing up where culture lives — live, loud, and in motion.

As Event Director, XM, you are the executional backbone of our experiential work. You oversee all events, productions, vendors, partners, and properties — ensuring every program is flawlessly delivered from pre-production through live execution to post‑production wrap. You bring rigor, excellence, and operational leadership to the heartbeat of the agency.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the VP, XM, the Production Director is the senior executional lead for national experiential programs. You partner closely with Account Managers, Directors, and the Group Account Director to bring strategy to life with precision, creativity, and unmatched quality.

You lead the Production Execution team — mentoring, guiding, and elevating the people who bring our ideas into the real world. You unify production, operations, suppliers, and creative execution to ensure every moment is delivered at the highest standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Event & Production Leadership

  • Oversee all pre-production workflows, including timelines, workbacks, logistics planning, permits, locations, vendor sourcing, and technical requirements.
  • Lead onsite execution, ensuring programs run smoothly, safely, and with Community-level polish.
  • Direct post-production reporting, debriefs, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Own production quality across all experiential formats — tours, pop‑ups, sponsorship builds, immersive experiences, and large‑scale properties.
  • Serve as the senior problem-solver and escalation point for all event-related challenges.

Vendor, Partner & Property Management

  • Manage all production vendors, fabricators, logistics partners, entertainment suppliers, warehousing and venue relationships.
  • Negotiate contracts, secure best-in-class partners, and maintain strong, reliable working relationships.
  • Ensure all partners meet Community’s standards for safety, compliance, quality, and cultural relevance.

Operational Excellence

  • Build and refine operational processes, production standards, QA checklists, and event protocols.
  • Ensure safety, compliance, regulatory approvals, and risk mitigation for all programs.
  • Maintain consistency and excellence across multiple markets and teams.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor Event Managers, Senior Event Managers, Coordinators, and on-site execution teams.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development to strengthen team skill sets.
  • Foster a collaborative, solutions-driven environment where teams feel supported and empowered.

Financial & Resource Oversight

  • Review and approve all production budgets, vendor estimates, and staffing plans.
  • Ensure programs are delivered efficiently, profitably, and at the highest qualitative standard.
  • Optimize resources across simultaneous projects and national workloads.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work hand-in-hand with Account teams to translate strategy into actionable, executable plans.
  • Partner with Creative and Production leads to bring ideas to life in ways that are innovative, feasible, and culturally relevant.
  • Act as a key contributor in scoping, project planning, and program evolution.

YOU ARE

  • A seasoned experiential production leader with deep experience producing live events, brand experiences, or complex national programs.
  • A master of logistics, timelines, operations, and problem-solving — calm under pressure, decisive in action.
  • A hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of creativity and execution.
  • A relationship builder who knows how to manage vendors, solve for the unexpected, and deliver excellence.
  • A mentor who brings out the best in your team — from junior coordinators to senior managers.
  • Financially sharp, operationally dialed, and executionally relentless.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • 6–8+ years in experiential production, live events, or operations.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale experiential programs end-to-end.
  • In-depth understanding of technical production, logistics, fabrication, safety, and onsite operations.
  • Strong command of budgets, procurement, vendor management, and multi‑market execution.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in regulated categories (alcohol, cannabis, tobacco alternatives) is a strong asset.

WHY WORK AT COMMUNITY?

  • A culture that’s creative, collaborative, and unapologetically bold.
  • The opportunity to shape national, culturedefining experiences.
  • Autonomy, trust, and the chance to make a real impact.
  • Learn from top talent while helping brands move at the speed of culture.
  • Rooftop deck. Fully furnished. Enough said.
