Job Description
The Corporate Accountant manages the core accounting activities that ensure Viasox's financial records are complete, accurate, and compliant. This role executes daily accounting operations, maintains detailed schedules, prepares reconciliations, and supports the Controller with month-end and year-end close. The Corporate Accountant ensures proper documentation, accurate coding, and timely submission of compliance-related filings.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain the general ledger and process all transactions with proper supporting documentation.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end schedules (prepaids, accruals, inventory, fixed assets, etc.).
- Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, vendor, and clearing accounts monthly.
AP/AR Execution
- Process vendor invoices, code expenses accurately, and support AP approvals.
- Record marketplace transactions, credit memos, and revenue adjustments.
- Monitor aging reports and escalate unusual items to the Controller/ CEO.
Compliance & Filings
- Prepare and submit GST/HST returns, Peanut royalties, and other required filings.
- Support corporate tax return preparation with required schedules and documentation.
Payroll Support
- Process biweekly payroll and ensure timely remittances to CRA and WSIB.
- Prepare year-end payroll reports and ROEs as required.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the Controller and Financial Analyst to support reporting, budgets, and strategic planning.
- Respond to CRA, bank, and vendor inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
Critical Numbers / Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- 100% of entries supported with audit-ready backup and/or working papers.
- All month-end reconciliations completed within 4 business days.
- Vendor invoice processing time of less than 48 hours.
- Zero payroll submission and remittance errors.
- 100% of ROE & T4 Year-end Filings submitted on time.
- GST/HST filing completed with no corrections after internal and external review.
What We Are Looking For
- 2–4 years accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, GL maintenance, and documentation standards.
- Canadian payroll training and experience.
- Working proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
CAN Pay Range
$70,000 - $80,000 CAD annually
