Job Description
Pay: $26.34
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, raking, sweeping, shrub and tree care, flower bed maintenance, spraying, weeding, and trenching.
- Operate powered lawn and grounds equipment such as ride-on mowers, push mowers, and whippers.
- Repair and maintain roadways, pathways, parking lots, and campus signage.
- Perform snow clearing and salting/sanding of walkways, stairs, ramps, entrances, roofs, and other areas as required. Operate snow removal equipment including plows, tractors, and related machinery.
- Maintain and clear storm drains, roof gutters, roof drains, and drainage ditches.
- Load and unload freight, furniture, and fragile equipment, ensuring items are properly prepared and secured for safe, damage-free transport. Assist with the loading and unloading of transport vehicles as required. Support office relocations when necessary.
- Follow scheduled routes and assist with the pickup and delivery of materials across campus, including mail, A/V equipment, parcels, recyclables, garbage, maintenance materials, custodial supplies, and furniture.
- Sort recyclables and ensure materials are placed in the appropriate waste and recycling streams.
- Maintain lawn and grounds equipment in safe operating condition. Perform minor maintenance such as checking oil and fluid levels, conducting pre-use inspections, and cleaning the equipment. Report and coordinate major repairs in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Operate utility vehicles, tractors, snow removal equipment, and other machinery as needed.
- Able to work from verbal or written direction with minimal supervision.
- Assist other trades staff and departments as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- At all times, duties are to be performed using approved PPE and safety procedures.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent and able to perform required tasks. A current Class 5 Motor Vehicle License for the Province of Nova Scotia along with an excellent driving record
