Job description

We are seeking an additional experienced labourer for our flatwork division. This individual is responsible for supporting flatwork preparation and concrete placement activities, ensuring basements, garages, porches, and other areas are properly prepared, formed, and finished in accordance with project specifications and company standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare basements prior to subtrade concrete pours, ensuring surfaces and materials meet project requirements.
  • Ensure basement stone is raked level and set to the proper height, following job scope details and customer specifications.
  • Install poly, bond break, acoustic tape, and other materials as required by job scope and site instructions.
    Perform minor concrete repairs and assist with formwork, following direction from the supervisor or team lead.
  • Load, organize, and prepare materials, tools, and equipment to ensure readiness for daily tasks.
    Grout beam pockets and complete other assigned tasks to support site preparation and structural requirements.
  • Cut basements, garages, and porches as directed by the supervisor to prepare for concrete placement and finishing.
  • Assist with pouring and finishing SCC (self‑consolidating concrete) and other concrete products as required.
    Follow direction from the team lead, supervisor, and coordinator, seeking clarification to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Adhere to all company health and safety policies and safe work procedures, reporting hazards or concerns promptly.
  • Participate in daily safety tailgates, vehicle inspections, and other safety‑related activities required by management.
  • Ensure timecards are completed accurately, including dates, times, locations, materials, and work details, and submit them at the end of each workday.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of job site safety requirements and safe equipment operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, maintaining productivity and cooperation.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, concrete products, and their appropriate applications.
  • Familiarity with basic forming, grading, and concrete preparation techniques (asset).
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and equipment commonly used in flatwork preparation (asset).
  • Physical ability to perform labour‑intensive tasks, including lifting, bending, raking, shoveling, and working outdoors.
  • Previous experience in flatwork, concrete preparation, or general construction is considered an asset.

Wage Range

The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $25.00 to 28.00 per hour. However, the range offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
