Position- Sr. Business Data Analyst

Location: Toronto , Ontario , MV S (Hybrid)/ Mountain View City CA Hybrid

Introduction

Senior Business Data Analyst that has work experience successfully curating Project Management Office (PMO) data, reports and dashboards dispersed amongst several PMO tools, in various formats and in adhoc Microsoft or Google based documentation.

A recent shift in PMO tools and leadership reset led to the need to enhance our key performance indicators (KPI). The challenge to overcome will be to catalog over , projects properly to derive meaningful insights and identify trends that will drive the prosperity of our organization. This involves reviewing a large amount of data, determining the fields/values that will drive decisions and providing a variety of creative views to heighten engagement with clarity of value evident at every step of the journey.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must be self-sufficient, internally driven, views constant change as a challenge and is motivated to overcome blockers. Training is provided, however no micro-management will occur, therefore candidates need to be independent and enthusiastic about advancing a heavy workload rapidly. Virtual networking, navigating numerous internal resources and efficient data accumulation will be the consistent experience and candidates proficient in these areas will be successful.

From day one, assistance in structuring/acquiring data stored in various places with a discipline philosophy devoted to the collection and categorization of meaningful data representations will be of the utmost importance. The candidate will have experience with various PMO tools and provide verbal (visual preferred) evidence of how the representation of the data they produced without assistance resulted in meaningful outcomes during the interview process. The ultimate goal is to use data, metrics to encourage the advancement of our program and the prosperity of the company goals.

Required Skills

• Organize large data sets, automate/integrate with Business Intelligence reporting tools and produce dashboards that leadership can leverage to tell our story
• Metrics should be of interest, however impacting the human effect is the ultimate goal, challenging the way we think and behave when it comes to metrics based storytelling
• Clean up of unstructured data for upload to different applications or databases
• Experience collecting and organizing data into clear visuals ranging from high level summaries to detailed project metrics based views
• Proven work history demonstrating the ability to tell an organization's story to drive awareness and prosperity
• Designed Return on Investment (ROI) calculations that are complex while easy to explain to individuals unfamiliar with the program
• Proven work history demonstrating the ability to tell an organization's story to drive awareness and prosperity
• Recent past experience with Qlik Sense must be able to format data to load to Qlik Sense, create reports, dashboards and defining a repetitive process we can automate to keep the Qlik Sense content updated
• Strong master data management, dashboard building and reporting background
• Genuine enjoyment and passion for ad hoc reporting requests that have a tight deadline for delivery
• Designed Return on Investment (ROI) calculations that are complex while easy to explain to individuals unfamiliar with the program

Master Data Management

Demonstrating a data re-engineering mindset is desired as the majority of our data will be unstructured requiring the identification of data gaps with defined solution plans/timelines to overcome them. While this is not an engineering role, this role needs to be very familiar with the common data organizational challenges and quickly overcome them such as creating or locating data to drive leadership decisions. To be productive this position will drive data best practices, program awareness, avoid duplication of efforts and generate a sense of community that aligns with clean data being a benefit to all.

Documentation Creation

Vast experience accompanied by a portfolio of innovative presentations must be part of this team members work history. Communicating in various ways and introducing methods of effective communication will be a big part of gaining a following and driving recognition of the valuable automation work performed. If unable to share content the candidate will need to speak to / describe past ways they have shared success stories through meaningful documentation that sends a powerful message without a voiceover to accommodate it.

Dashboard Expert

Key deliverable is to produce a Monthly Dashboard that contains the following:

• Pipeline Overview - Project submissions, status, in development and delivered (monthly and annually)
• Impact/Value Realized - How much time and money has been saved by the effort? Which business areas were impacted and how? What percent of the overall scope was delivered?
• Process Highlights - Short summary of what was delivered that showcases innovation, complexity and business value. Explain the problem, opportunity, solution, impact, overall return on investment (ROI) and what leadership received or will receive as a result of the project delivery
• Use Case Spotlights - Collect testimonials and feedback from end users in a variety of mediums (quotes, videos, audio, demos)
• Technology Mix - Describe what technologies were used to deliver the work and provide appreciation/recognition to the team members that provided trajectory changing assistance. Highlight any new tools, methods or external trends that need to be evaluated further or should be considered for future efforts
• Cycle Time / Throughput - Focus on the average time from project submission to completion for all projects, categorize or group projects in meaningful ways so we can forecast timeline and resourcing properly. Disclose any bottlenecks or delays that need to be addressed and escalated. Facilitate post mortem/lessons learned activities and highlight improvements that will be made prior to the next endeavor
• Organizational Participation - Heatmap where project submission or demand lurks to drive more engagement
• Forward Look / Upcoming Deployments - What should leaderships look forward to? What is next up? Where are the dependencies or cross-functional coordination needed to level up?
